Liner Notes

I started with the skirmish idea time for a break, though this is more about the why of that than the break. I also drew from the "Give a prompt, receive a prompt" thread, where I was directed to write a song featuring a "flower you feel spiritually connected to". The title came from the paint colors challenge, which included the color, "Dandelion Wish".

This is an acoustic one-take, well past my bedtime. I found that I was changing the chords a bit as I sang, so don't take these as accurate.

Lyrics

Dandelion Wishes
Deirdre M Murphy

Dm Am
Sometimes all the world seems to crush me
Em E7
Responsibilities gush in, emergencies rush in
Am Em Am
And there’s no way, no grace, to say “nay!”
Em E7
To shush the demands, to hibernate, to hush
Dm Am
Though I am so tired, it’s all way too much
Em E7
And I want to just brush it all away

Am7 E7
Chorus: I want to lay in a meadow full of dandelions
Dm
I want to sleep with no alarms,
Em7
To be free from all the norms,
Am7 E7
To let the dandelion wishes be my charms

Dm Am
Sometimes the men with power have no conscience
Em E7
They have no common sense, their plans are all offense
Am Em Am
And there’s no way to put up any good defense
Em E7
No way to build a fence, their power’s too immense
Dm Am
No way to make the bad men suffer any consequence
Em E7
And I have no way to dispense with all that nonsense

Chorus

Dm Am
I want to gather together all those wishing seeds
Em E7
To banish all the greed, to undo every evil deed
Am Em Am
To offer food, home, and medicine to all who need
Em E7
And silence everyone who would selfishly mislead
Dm Am
Peace would be agreed, Joy and siblinghood succeed
Em E7
Each dandelion wish freed and granted super-speed

Chorus

I like the chords you use, which prove a great entrance for your melody and gorgeous vocals. The hook is really well developed through the verses and featured in the chorus. Well done!
