Liner Notes

Stepping Up is a Digital 4 Track collaboration.

I did a rhythm guitar part and the basic song structure (BPM, chords changes, Key)
@cathreu followed with a great drum machine and electric bass.
@chrismyth02 wrote a lyric and melody and sang it beautifully.
@jamkar wrapped it all up with the perfect piano part.
We really enjoyed creating this piece and hope you enjoy hearing it!

Lyrics

Lyrics by Chris Smith
@chrismyth02

Verse 1
Time for a shutdown baby
I got the hammer and nails
Board up the windows baby
Cuz when it rains it hails
The generator is a humming
Hope it never fails
But all you gotta know is
I will be there

Verse 2
We had a breakthrough baby
We had our moment of truth
We used to fight about it
Eye for an eye for a tooth
Now we can laugh about the battles
That we fought in our youth
But all we need to know is
We will be there

Chorus
I’m stepping up now cuz I’m trying to reach you
Gravity tripping up both my feet
You’re stepping up now just in time to meet me
Together bad weather can't intervene
Cuz in the morning
We’ll be alright

Hey now, upbeat rockabilly-esque fun tune. Nice energetic collaboration! Good work everyone. As always, in the morning we'll be alright.

well isn't this a little power house of a ditty?

love how something that's been created so disparately can produce something so complete, you guys could have been in the room to do this . . . .

You've all layered so well on top of each other work.

Thanks all for your contributions this awesome track.

Congrats for finishing the digital 4track challenge. Listening to this song, I could not imagine that it started with the guitar. I honestly thought drums were first. This fits together perfectly. I really enjoy the rock n roll vocal style. The chorus has such a cool groove in all instruments

I love the gradual build of the instrumentation at the beginning. The driving drum machine with that soft tremolo guitar, leading into the piano - it's so good! Then the transition into the first verse is delightfully abrupt. Those vocals are stylistically *perfect* for the piece - kudos to @chrismyth02 on the awesome lyric and performance.

I like the break around 4 minutes. It feels like the end of the song at first, but then it kicks back in with a satisfying tempo change. I love a good long song, especially when it has all the dynamics that this one does to keep it interesting.
