Hey, I'm Beth and I'm from near Glasgow.
This is my fourth (fawth?) FAWM. I'm not a great vocalist or musician but I do love writing lyrics and putting together tracks via DAWs and VSTs. I like #folk, #rock, #alternative. My aim this year is to get something together that I would actually be happy to put out on public media. I have some help for this in 2023! Positive feedback and following welcome. Hope to meet some new folk.

Edit: NB headphones when listening improve the quality by so much bc I don't yet have the producing skills to make things sound good in all setups!!

Glad you liked "glimpse" thanks for checking it out!

@nadine
Thank you! So glad to hear you enjoyed Glimpse!

Hi Beth. Thanks for listening to (and enjoying) "Sometimes That's Enough." I know time is waning for FAWMing so I appreciate your taking the time.
[avatar]
Sure ! I'll be glad to collab !
[avatar]
Thank you so much for listening to "Monster at the End" and leaving me a comment! Also, you mentioned you were sick of FAWM at one point. I'm glad you stuck around (and not because of the comment -- just glad you're here).

@brisk
Yes, tit4tat is great! Thanks for the kind comments.

Bonkers but fun is exactly what I was going for with Style!

Thank you for kind words and listens! I love the listening part of FAWM as much as I do the creating part... and I don't know that I've listened to much of your stuff in past years but I will say I am very impressed.

Thank you for your kind words on “Hey, Dad!”. Such a tough song to write and perform! Really appreciate the listen and your reaction - thank you again! :-)

Although, of course, fans call them "The Counting Crows".

You sign up on the thread and tell them how many songs you're going to comment on per person. My interpretation* of it is that if you volunteer to comment on up to 5 songs per person, then you go to the profiles of the other 5 song people and find 5 songs to comment on. Then work your way down. And for each comment you leave, add the hashtag. And don't do like I did over lunch and forget and have to go back through them all again.

*But you can ask for clarification.

Have you seen the tit4tat thread in the forums? It's a good way to engage with folks who are going to be listening into March and will also commit to listening to your stuff in return.

@siasa
Cuh! That's lead guitarists for you!
[avatar]
You've not got far to go! Absolutely doable. Looking forward to hearing your final four!

@siasa
Hey, you've got ten - that's an album by many people's measure. I mean, Rumours is only 11 songs and it's sold reasonably well I hear! Everything you've put up is worth keeping, imho.

@siasa
Thanks for your kind comments on 'Mermaids.' Much appreciated!

@siasa
Thanks for your comment on 'Meet Me' - yes, I think it's one of the keepers from this batch... ;-)

I don't mind them but, no, I wouldn't call myself a fan. I prefer the stuff that The Joe Walsh and The Don Henley did solo to be honest.
[avatar]
You are almost certainly *not* getting hints of the Eagles. :)

a "perfect" voice is boring to me - imperfection is perfection because is is life.

@siasa
The gig was great, thanks! She's a great performer as well as songwriter

I'm not sure that Az wanted to get involved so much as for me to stop singing and pay attention to him. At that point I didn't even know he was there and suddenly he's leaping up and landing ever so softly right on the keys, which he then proceeded to walk up. Hilarious. Had to keep it. Unlike the time he did something similar but also managed to change the keyboard sound from delicate electric piano to a screaming organ. Also hilarious, but unsalvagable on that occasion.
If you listen closely you can hear him miaowing on some of the tracks too.

@siasa
PS off to see Suzanne Vega just now, but will check in on your new song tomorrow

Hey thanks for the kind comments! As regards the vocal, I think I may have had the same Central Belt lurgi as yourself, so that by yesterday I had the right amount of gravel rolling around for this song...
[avatar]
Good to have you back and glad you're feeling better! (I also pretty much had a week off but that was just with just me being rubbish). Looking forward to hearing all your things!

@safred
Thanks so much for listening to the Haiku inspired piece, feedback much appreciated :)
[avatar]
You've got a solid start. Keep on doing a little every day and you'll get there.

Me? No idea. I need a song idea first. And not to be under work deadlines, yeah that too.

Hi, thanks for following me! Excited to hear what you come up with. Also, I study Scottish history and I was just in Glasgow last Spring! Happy FAWM :)

Welcome back, Beth! Have a great FAWM!
