Today I had a nice lunch with friends, and as we were all complaining about the state of things, one spoke up and reminded us that the best way to combat their reality is to build our own, rooted in compassion and care for our own well being, and by choosing what we let consume our minds, so that we can be a safe place for those who need it.

I've often felt that it's silly to create art in these times. Another friend reminded me that creating art is a compassionate act in a world of harm, and that art may even help somebody.

I really like the structure and word usage in the lyric. I like the slow purposeful delivery! Yup good message live it well and hope it sets the future path.

Turning off front social media can be a good thing..it cleanses the mind. Nice spare palying...very effective.

Gorgeous lyric and well served with the sparse arrangement and your warm, inviting vocals. I love the space in this, especially that pause after the first verse to really let it all settle. Great message too

My wife and I have conversations very much like yours.
Your voice is comforting, and that's a lovely piano sound.
This is a lovely, starkly powerful song. A welcome Monday morning listen.

I love your song. Would you be happy to add your gorgeous singing, most likely it would need to be re-recorded, if I recorded the piano? Unfortunately I'm not skillful for adding the piano to recorded tracks. Please kindly let me know, but I do love your recording. Please see what you are happy with, and you might like the idea of both versions 😊

@musicsongwriter I gave it a quick whirl. I thought it was going to be upbeat, but nothing worked. Turns out it's a dirge. I did have to adjust the lyrics a smidge. I lack the skills to build much on the piano. If that's something you'd like to do, Have at it, and thank you so much for your kind encouragement!

Oh! You nailed it! This is a song I wish I'd written. Just enough connection to the current horrors, but focused on the solution and what's still right with the world. "turn off the feed/there's still joy to be found" are words to live by. Brilliant work.

great lyric, and I love your positive outlook! i also tried to use the prompt for something 'larger' that addressed some of the current situation. you give a straightforward call to optimism that's needed these days!

Great work, in such a uncertain world it's hard to not feel overwhelmed. The internet doesn't help with it's doom scrolling temptations. Love how you have used your friendship to draw upon. These lyrics fill me with hope, that is something we all need from time to time.
