Trouble with a capital F

Liner Notes
I got the title of this song from my friend Gayle, when we were sitting in a beer garden at a bluegrass festival five or six years ago. I don't remember who we saw, but when we did, she said "Oh, there's trouble with a capital F!" I just about choked on my beer laughing and knew I had to write a song with that line someday, and here it is. I started writing the song using the "Hank Williams from Hell" challenge, but then strayed from it, because that's where the song wanted me to go. All parts by me, including the clunky mandolin.

Lyrics
Trouble with a capital F
Key of D
Verse 1
I'm no Oxford scholar, ain't got no PHD
But I can spot a liar miles away
Least that's what I told myself, confident-ly
That's before you turned your gaze my way
Verse 2
You charmed me with your sweet words, disarmed me with your ease
Weakened my resistance with your kiss
Mama thought you handsome, she's never hard to please
Daddy said, girl, something is amiss
Chorus
Fooled me once and it broke my heart, I never would have guessed
Fooled me twice and I fell apart, you'd think I'm blind and deaf
Fooled me three times, baby, you're awfully proud, I bet
Shoulda listened what daddy told me, you're trouble with a capital F
Verse 3
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but you destroyed my heart
Feasted on it like a bird of prey
Don't know how you sleep at night, you think you're pretty smart
If there's a god, you'll burn in hell someday
