screwed and stuck

Liner Notes

This is from The Worm, a musical set deep in a mine turned science lab. Two scientists - Joe and June - are looking after a computer-driven wormhole to the future financed by a sleazy billionaire who checks in on the project, and while he's down there comes on to June. She and Joe have signed precarious non-disclosure agreements and are fearful of their jobs. Joe is jealous.

Must admit that I recorded it a couple of weeks ago. Not near much equipment for a few more days.

It's written to be sung by June, so if anyone would like to give that a try, I'll get you a version without my vocal and ready to add yours.

Lyrics

Holy crap, we’re/I'm screwed and stuck
With a creepy billionaire
The bastard’s looking down her/my blouse
With his stupid, empty stare

I know he’s got a lot of dough
But I don’t really care
It’s clear to me he wants to get
Inside her/my underwear

He already controls our lives
There’s nothing we can do
If he decides our jobs are over
Our careers turn to poo

But how about, if we make
A move to leave this hole
And find a new direction
Before we sell our soul

Love that percussion right off the bat.
You know, this song can apply to many situations....
Great wiggly keyboard(?) hits there.
Nice laid-back guitar solo.
A winner for sure.

I like that song a lot and actually I enjoy that it's sung by "Joe" with your expressive voice. Nevertheless it would be a lot of fun to sing that one for sure :-) Really great feeling with the percussion and the guitar solo, reminds me of Tom Waits.

This is so fun! Love the liner notes as a story to set up the song. Nice way to play with the medium. Thanks for this!

This is a bonkers piece of swamp funk, the setting works really well with the angst of your protagonist's feelings. They need to pull their finger out!

I wonder who the inspiration for the billionaire is? :) I love the mix of percussion and JJ Cale-type guitars, and you really went for it with the vocal. Nice to hear you again!

It was February somewhere a couple weeks ago. And what is time anyways? This slaps. Really dig the song and am intrigued by the story. I’m watching Red dwarf and DS9 right now (yes AGAIN, get off my back!) and this zany timey wimey musical number is wonderfully perfect for where I’m at right now. I’m the target audience.

That phase way on the rhythm is super cool. Nice riffage all around with great percussion sounds.

The story is interesting and easy to picture as I listen. The music is absolutely fantastic. I could listen to that all day long!

Yup this worm moves rather than turns! Great little musical touches, really make this, A bit like some early Steve miller stuff. Classy.

happy to see and hear that the worm continues to turn. i love this crazy arrangement and how the melody climbs it as a monkey climbs a tree.

Love the effects going on here - not overbearing, but bring this into another dimension for sure. Can't wait to hear more about all the characters. Does the billionaire get a monologue? I daresay you've got plenty of real-world source material these days...

Happy FAWM!
