Thanks for your comments regarding "Ruby." Yeah, I worked a few things into that guitar part that I haven't used much, like a 13th chord and what I guess is a 4#minor. It's funny what you find when you can boot yourself out of your ruts.
[avatar]
Just sent stems to your gmail. LMK if you rec'd everything intact and if you need anything else on this. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you! Wow you rocked 46 songs :O unbelievable!
[avatar]
yo, jamming would be fun. Haven't done much remote jamming before but I've been curious to give jamkazam a spin. If it's more the asynchronous variety, I'm a fan of what you and @djtjb do with the beat science. I have this track from last year that I would love to get a beat makeover. I was going for kind of a Succession theme vibe and I think I got that across well enough for a FAWM demo but it think it's a bit clumsy and could be so much more. If you're up for it, I could send you the files sans drums. Here's the FAWM version: https://soundcloud.com/bennett-grassano-92754464/after-the-rain?si=aa516ba48d08492c9473feabd0e51a11&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
[avatar]
I really appreciated your comment on "I Wear the Scar" and I don't at all think you dug a hole. Thank you! :)
[avatar]
Thank you for your kind words on the song "Answers for you" :)
[avatar]
Hahah, I truly appreciate your description of my vocals on "Worms Crawl on the Skeletons of the Dead Tyrants"! Cheers!
[avatar]
dude, 46? you've been freaking prolific this year! let me know if you're up for a #tit4tat and if so, if there are any songs in particular you'd either like feedback on or think I should check out.
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment! I'm a Star Trek fan as well, TNG and DS9 are my favorites. Hope you are able to watch the new Picard!
[avatar]
@gm7
Thx man...I am jealous of your bass playing!! lol
46 songs.....wow! congrats
[avatar]
@brisk
In all seriousness, I think maybe alternate universe Evil FAWM might actually be quite fun - backstabbing, negging, secret downvotes for songs. Maybe FAWM needs an evil twin! (And the other thing: the feeling's mutual.)

[edit: and instead of collabs, you'd have sabotages!]
[avatar]
@brisk
NOOO! I didn't mean it like that! You are a pillar of this fine virtual community. But it occurred to me that someone evil *could* do something like this, for internet points. My main point was that it was a really amazing idea for a meta FAWM song.
[avatar]
thanks for the props on No More Words. The beautiful part about writing in “VU mode” (which you correctly identified that I was doing), is that the process is so quick and dirty (perfect for “latter day FAWM”). Not quite a self imposed skirmish, but it took around 2 hours all in. Glad to hear the song is getting through as intended!
[avatar]
@artie
Thanks, homie. You're the legend, collab'ing in the comments sections... sheeeeeeeit! That was dope. And I take the Method Man comment as high praise. I've been told that before. My nephew got in the car once while I was checking a new track I'd exported and he asked if this was the new Wu-Tang. 🤡
[avatar]
aw, thanks for the comments!
[avatar]
😂 thank you for the comment 🖖🏼
[avatar]
Hey @nahlej381 had a run at one of the tracks... let me know what you think guys
[avatar]
@fuzzy
You've given me a title for the next in the series; "I Fear Brian Eno".
I don't think you need a passport to come to Canada, although you'd have to have a microchip implanted in order to enter the Fuzzy Sound Labs secret underground bunker.
BTW, Kraft peanut butter is gross. All-natural all the way.
[avatar]
Dude, I need you to be my NSFW sensai 😂
[avatar]
"I literally just use bits and pieces of vocal samples from splice or this VST called Output Arcade. Or maybe I'll use the whole sample; depends on what it sounds like...how it hits me.
When it comes to sample work, I'm a novice...I'm like not even in the same building as folks on youtube or wherever out there who do sample work. Dilla, I am not.
I play my little chords and basslines, make my drums, and sometimes that stuff (the music) revolves around the vocal samples, and sometimes the other way around.
When I've made music first, I go browse Splice with the track playing in the back. That allows me to hear when a sample's character will fit somewhere in my track, even if its just a fraction of a slice of a sample that fits somewhere. I also just like to find rhythms in little sections (usually random) of a vox sample; see if they fit with what I got going on.
On the other hand, when I do samples first, its really just random; sometimes I feel a completely different vibe than what the sample was "meant" for - ex. if an EDM pop vocal is made for summertime festival bangers, I might use it in an old school hip hop track and try to mimic what a DJ would do if they scratching records.
FX help me a lot, too. I don't even utilize all the tools Reason has to offer/all the VSTs I've bought over the years, to even step my game up.
I really do nothing complicated...I'm too unskilled, unknowledgeable and lazy for all that lol
I'll tell you anything you wanna know, pour all my musical everything out for you - but I'm afraid there's just not much to pour out. No secrets here.
(this bit applies to both you and craig) I listen to your stuff and I feel like I don't even deserve to own a keyboard. I'M the one who needs to be picking YOUR brain (and others who have said things like "how do you do it???")"
[avatar]
Yo - saw your comment about picking my brain. Ain't nothing to pick, honestly. CTS asked too on that song. I hit his soundboard up and typed out pretty much all I do with samples...I'm gonna paste it here on your soundboard, too.
But honestly, like I told him - you can do anything I can do 10 times better.
And you already killing the samples; truly nothing I can show anybody. Travis, same thing.
I'm not trying to put myself down, but I honestly cannot do a fraction of what the majority of people on this site can do, including you. Just being real.
I don't think there's anything missing from yours or CTS' sample game.
But I'll tell you anything you wanna know, man.
Paste time, mon ami!
[avatar]
@sollis
Thanks for the kind words on my track! I've been playing guitar all these years and only recently thought to try turning the tone dial down - Now I'm becoming increasingly fond of the flavour it creates!

As someone who's sliding helplessly towards investing in a 4-track cassette recorder, what can you tell me about the pros and cons of life with a 4-track? Do you find you get much use out of it when you also have the lovely convenience of digital?
[avatar]
@digg36
thanks for commenting

@beej
Visiting For realz? hell yes
[avatar]
@kiffa
Thank you very much for your kind comment on "Easter Sunday".
[avatar]
@nadine
Hey! Could you please check your mails? We've nearly finished the collab from last Summer. Just need your OK or feedback. I think about uploading that one in March. Thank you :)
[avatar]
i always say that when its live a bit tricky when you wrote it and then sang it 2 minutes later then wrote it down for all to see - but hey not many people listen close enough or care enough ha hay used to drive my wife crazy when i did it when we were playing together ha ha
[avatar]
well it can be wrong if you are silly enough to write one thing and sing another
[avatar]
Hey maybe we could do a track together? Is there time?? Is there ever time?!?!?! ezragale@gmail.com
[avatar]
Yeah…I’m a fan of Bill...What a loss he was 😩
[avatar]
Hey man, you know I would gladly help with your taxes, but feel I must rescind myself as I don’t want you going to jail!
[avatar]
no. my friend is bill carter. he wrote crossfire for stevie ray vaughan and put out five albums with his band the blame before p. he still gets an occasional mid level hit,
[avatar]
a friend of mine had a band with Gibby Haynes and Johnny Depp. They were called P and only did one album.
[avatar]
@cts
I salute thee!
[avatar]
Thank You!
[avatar]
@fuzzy
All songs are mine.
If anyone has a problem with that they can talk to my Fuzzy Sound Labs Enforcers.
[avatar]
Congrats on your early WIN!!! Keep writing!
[avatar]
Would love to collab on some shit ;)
[avatar]
thanks for the update on the Weed situation. Ive been out of it for so long that i am clueless. did you get my email about the Compliance song? sine i havent heard back from you, i was fearing it went into your spam folder. Lots of emails sent to me go there.
[avatar]
Again, thanks for following me and commenting on my tracks. Glad you liked Try To Understand!
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment!
[avatar]
@fuzzy
"YouTube Stoners" sounds like a good song title.... 🤔
[avatar]
Thanks for the listen to Always You. I agree with you that Jeff 's guitar really nailed it. I loved what his did, and his vocals are wonderful, as always. Glad you liked the lyrics, too. Thanks
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you! Yeah, at first I thought it's dorian but some chords have a way darker flavour. I like what you did! I write a lot in dorian, too!
[avatar]
Thanks again for accompanying me on my FAWM journey. Glad you enjoyed Put The Chain On!
[avatar]
@jeff9
Thanks for listening and for your kind words about Always You.
[avatar]
Knockout production on the Delorean man! That intro! The little lofi vocal delay throws. And using that mmmm at the end! The latter is now officially the sound of this year’s FAWM (for me) 🤣
[avatar]
Thanks for the nice comment :)
[avatar]
Thanks, buddy! Look at all those songs, man…you’re killing it 💪🏻
[avatar]
@andrea
I have written a verse and chorus for 'Dank Swank' :) Would you like me to send it to you?
[avatar]
Your comments on 1971 Census made me chuckle. Thanks again for listening and commenting.
[avatar]
@andrea
Alright, I will try to write a verse about or related to 'dank swank'. I'll send it your way when it's done;) This will be interesting.
[avatar]
@beej
Awesome. 😀
[avatar]
check your email
[avatar]
@kkd
Thanks for the comment! Yes, it was a crazy week and the layering definitely showed the state of my mind. I'm new to the layering but I love playing with it.
[avatar]
@beej
Look you, ya big WINNER.

I'm back on the fawm train from tonight onwards
[avatar]
Thank you for your kind comment. I wish "wild-genre-mashing" came to my mind when I tagged the song!
[avatar]
I hope my 'stank' is in this case a good thing 😄 I've had fun hearing the results of the FakeIt Challenge for sure.
[avatar]
Congratulations on hitting 14 songs...! :)
[avatar]
@jsini
Thanks for your comment on Your Face! I’ll check your songs, you’ve been busy it appears.
[avatar]
It is indeed an actual (and lovely) Stoney End 21 string harp. :) Thanks for listening!
[avatar]
I'm glad you liked it! I'll be adding to it as more lyrics swing to mind.
[avatar]
Thanks again for listening and commenting on Call The Police.

Yes, American anti-drug PSAs are funny now. I’m old enough to remember the “.Just say no to drugs” hysteria and I found them funny at the time.
[avatar]
@fuzzy i thought I was on YOUR board…I was not…see below
[avatar]
Lmao thanks autocorrect you saved us again
[avatar]
@fuzzy
Just noticed your misspelling; "Plush Chris Farley". Now THAT is a song title.
[avatar]
@fuzzy
I have not seen that film.
I have, however, written several songs about Lemmy's superhuman nature. The first line of one of them was, "Lemmy is a God among men". And indeed he was.
[avatar]
Thank you. ❤️
[avatar]
Thanks for commenting on "Elämä on mukavaa." Basically it's about how everything is fine with my life, and I compared my life of having almost every number right at the lottery. Not the main prize, but still a nice prize.
[avatar]
Glad you liked my latest "I am Sent". I was going for a late 50s, early 60s feel
[avatar]
@fuzzy
Almost a win.....
[avatar]
@cts
Almost there, I see...
[avatar]
Thx for comments! You are well into it this time, so I go listen to some of the songs now.
[avatar]
Dude you KNOW I’m down. 👍🏽
[avatar]
Thanks again for checking out my tracks. I really appreciate your kind comments on You Mad Skateboard Dogs. Now, I just need to catch up on some of your work.
[avatar]
Aww thanks friend
[avatar]
@beej
RAD
[avatar]
thanks. i was going to ask you about that instrumental, was worried it might have got lost in some idiotic spam filter.
[avatar]
@beej
dude I do not know. You seem rapid at making tunes, maybe send me one as an assigment?
[avatar]
@cts
...and for the love of all that's good and delicious, PLEASE hook up with @mannon! That would be so freakin' awesome. Man, that would be absolutely nuts! Oh, and when I get back in town, I've got a request for the production crew! Y'all know what's up!
[avatar]
@beej
we gotta collab
[avatar]
Thanks for your comments on The Movie In My Mind. You're right about one thing, for sure...working with David and Kate is "effortless!"
Thanks!
[avatar]
@mannon
..........*______* You are too kind with your comments haha, but thank you for the nice words! ^^;; I'm amazed at how much you guys have been able to put out in such a short amount of time, geezus, makes me feel like I need to get my ass in gear lmao. Are you perhaps looking for any collabs? I have a beat that I'm working on that's in need of some schweet raps if you're interested haha. :'D
[avatar]
I would like to thank you so much for your that kind comment! I was very happy to read it...
[avatar]
Loving the positive feedback you're sending my way! Yes, let's do a jam together! Email me at the link on my FAWM profile. Would love to connect!
[avatar]
Ha! thanks again. If you'd been there with me you'd know dizzy LOL.... loving the voodoo that you do too. Thanks so much.
[avatar]
Thank you for your comment on first dance. Aw, so kind, thank you. 😊
[avatar]
Thank you for your kind comment on my track. Your board looks pretty productive. Great work. :)
[avatar]
Wow, you have been busy here! I feel lazy when I see so much activity. Thanks a lot for your comments! Time to hurry back to the composing. 😀
[avatar]
Just logged in. Going to be a slow start for me, but I can see you're more than making up for that. I'll get in touch. 🤘
[avatar]
Lol looks like you're almost done! Happy FAWMing, good buddy.
[avatar]
omg, i'd be down to have you lay some kazoo on a track sometime this month tbh, i'll draw something up & letcha know 🙏
[avatar]
45 hours!? You maniac, hope you're feeling ok today! Did I mention on that soul collab track - there's a break in the middle which could maybe use a little slap bassy goodness. Which I know for a fact you could make work. Anyways, hope it all makes sense if you do get round to playing with the stems. And get some rest!!
[avatar]
It was Danny DeVito indeed. And thanks! I used a ton of the tricks and tips and background info you guys gave me to make it, I really appreciate your help.

Also, Tom Tom Club! I didn't think of that reference at all, but I was super psyched after I recorded that bass part, it felt so good. Listening back, I can totally hear Tina vibe, you're totally right. Spot on.
[avatar]
@fuzzy
OK, I know we shouldn't be listening to anything other than FAWM music, but try this one too. It's about sukkin nitrous out of Cool Whip cans at work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3JpVWJUAhw
It's a blast to play on the ukulele.
[avatar]
Yep let’s do something
[avatar]
@fuzzy
Yeah, BA Johnston is hilarious. Seen him live a number of times and it's always a chaotic good time. His tunes always make me laugh. I think you'd like him.
[avatar]
Oh man, that pit bull comment cracked me up
[avatar]
thanks. im eager to get started on that vocal idea to see if it works.
[avatar]
bro you couldn't make trash even if you tried
[avatar]
just to clarify i didnt say a classic - ha ha just a wacky fun film about 3 years at a music festival!
[avatar]
you should watch a wacky australian music/comedy film called " Three summers" its very entertaining - 1 of the main characters is a theremin player!
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out Crack. Glad you liked it.
[avatar]
And you got THREE already (see post on djtb's page)... Ya'll already trippin lol
Can't wait to get my ears on these!
[avatar]
Thank you, buddy. Great to hear you again.
[avatar]
Thank you very much for your kind words on my song. Much appreciated. :)
[avatar]
@mal70
COLD MOON DAY - thanks for the feedback - welcome to have a crack at it.
[avatar]
Email works! It's in my profile. Thanks!
[avatar]
I'd love that!! My first listen of your work was a Pixies-style song a few years ago. I'm open-minded.
[avatar]
I’m game to work on something. I’m busy the last ten days of the month or so will likely not be doing much then. I’ve got 16 days to be productive…
[avatar]
@gslade
I love the doctor who store. Can't wait to go back.
[avatar]
yay It's time! have a great FAWM!
[avatar]
@gslade
Coincidentally, I accepted a job in Terre Haute, which I'm slated to move to in May-ish.
[avatar]
@gslade
It's gonna be hot AF... I wouldn't mind a quick and dirty collab EP.. we both make 4 beats, and we both perform on each's beat...bam..8 track EP album thingy... party on?
[avatar]
@cts
My heart warmeth over serval degrees! ❤️❤️❤️🎸🥁🎤🎼🎧🎷Let’s get it!
[avatar]
I want my band name to be Stylish Fuzz
[avatar]
Looking forward to hearing you do shit I can not even fathom.
[avatar]
@cts
Behold. Here I be. I can’t help but sense you are going to light it up this year. I feel it right down to the molecular level. That’s deep, homie. Welcome back, my dude.
[avatar]
@nadine
Welcome back! Good luck for some spicy beats!
[avatar]
@beej
My brother. Let’s do this!!
[avatar]
I already went with the Rode M5's for about the same price. They've been fine so far. I'm going to check out these Worker Bees though. They sure look cool.
[avatar]
Yeah man, how's tonight? Rest of the week going to get a bit messy but tonight is clear.
[avatar]
Better...? Sort of. Getting there hopefully. And a JAM next week - yes definitely, maybe we could do the 1st or 2nd to celebrate the start of fawming?
[avatar]
@fuzzy
I feel like I need more pedals now.
Yeah, of course a collab is in the cards, brother!
I still owe you one, actually...
[avatar]
danelectro back talk, baby!! I want one so bad now. Have a glorious FAWM my friend...
[avatar]
Hey! I’m interested in making beats. I listen to someone like Flying Lotus and I love it but I’m baffled as to how it’s done. I can do my little rock and roll thing but this feels like a new continent.
[avatar]
good to see you back for another round. hope we can do something together.
[avatar]
@gm7
Sweeet! Your here and I can't wait ...just a few days left to go! woohoo
[avatar]
In there like swimwear.
[avatar]
I like Anderson.Pak a bunch, his single Coast with Hailee Steinfeld is so groovy. I like that sort of melodic chorus. But I think what I'm most likely to make during FAWM are going to be super simple prouction-wise because I've never made anything before... So probably just a snare on the three with a vocal on top.
[avatar]
It is FAWM. I am SO glad you’re here.
[avatar]
@beacon
Glad to see you back!
[avatar]
Followinnnnngggggg. Let's write raps together.
[avatar]
thanks and welcome back!
[avatar]
@fuzzy
Here we go!! 😀
[FAWM]
