Liner Notes

There never seem to be enough hours in the day; I though being retired was supposed to mean you had spare time? And why do things keep breaking?

This whole song happened because I'd left my Korg Opsix switched on and it started playing a sequence when it received a MIDI clock signal from Ableton Live. "I can use that," I told myself. And I did. And then funked things up with the JayDee Supernatural. I haven't played slap bass in a while, so I was pretty rusty. Might add a guitar solo in the bridge but I'm done for today.

This one's #funky but there are #rock elements too. And were would I be without #gatedDrums for that #fullProduction ?

Lyrics

I've got too much to do to be doing stuff
My muse is not impressed; things are looking tough
Rather do the laundry than call her bluff
I've got too much to do to be doing stuff

Last-minute hitches getting rife
There's always something unanticipated
I've never led a simple life
But why's it have to be so complicated?

"Entropy is escalating,"
people say, "And how!"
These days my sole refrain
is just to sigh, "What now?"

Gaslighting seems to be the norm
I'm tied in knots with these conspiracies
Being truthful's just good form;
Why must we cope with these deficiencies?

And now I've broken something else
Ended with a snap when I was going for a bend
At least I've one more on the shelf
Or else this song will never make it to the end...

Entropy is definitely escalating! You definitely got the funk! Being retired is hard work isn't it? And why is everything breaking?

Funny opening line that sets the tone for the rest of the tune. I like the funky bass on what is (to me) otherwise a rock song. I can't put my finger on it, but Peter Gabriel comes to mind.

The interesting part of these lyrics is that they could also relate to some neurospicy condition. The bass line on the chorus is soooo funky and great. Cool rhythms.

Cool, funky, groovy! Very driving song

This is great. Love the funk and the underlying synth twinkles are the late organ are great. This is fantastic and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
I retired in October 2024 and up to a week ago was totally preoccupied with a pressing family issue. Able to move forward now. Before I retired people kept asking me if was going to bored. To which I unequivocally responded, no.

Never enough time at the speed it goes, lyrics sum up the feeling well, that bass has some solid slaps!

The first time I heard a retired person say, "I don't know where I ever found time for work," I didn't understand. Now I do.

Good sound. The various tones in that bass have a life of their own. 😀

Relatable, yes! So much to do that I'll probably do none of it... Nice rhythm to this.

Mmm, I like the groove. And I can totally relate to the lyrics 😀

Holy balls I feel seen here. Can relate definitely. Love the write and the production here! This is good stuff man!

Now that's a great way to get a song idea to happen. Look what it turned into! Gotta love how magical the process can be

Great tones on that bass and those drums. Both key to this track!

Ah big smile. Stuff to do is like gas, expanding to fill the space available, but some of it is more toxic than other sectors. Grind culture and social media, bread-stealing circuses of the "elite"soap opera: not a happy pincer movement or set of horns to be on. But if you can happily potter doing a mix of things valuable to you. That's winning. That's resistance. In some ways.

I much switch a few things on, see if it can do anything for me. Controlled angst is often interesting as it is here! I have a hunch you will always find busy!

I like this one, the sound design gives me the sensation that you are trapped on a can, which I think goes well with the song.

Nice delivery there bud! Shades of Marilyn Manson?

The struggle is real. I’m hearing some “The The” in this. As artists, we need a lot more downtime to create. Every time I’m away from work, other stuff fills this essential time. Good start!
