Liner Notes

@jlampson proposed the Twilight Zone Challenge in Forums and I jumped at this chance. (Thanks, John!). Herewith, my submission... I was assigned the 1959 Season 1-Episode 8 with Burgess Meredith called "Time Enough at Last". It's in DADGAD tuning. #TwilightZone #acoustic #DADGAD #

Lyrics

V
Spent my life head in book
Turning pages, while whole world shook
Never mattered what they say
Words always took me away

V
Clock in, clock out, passing through
Dreaming of stories nobody knew
Longing for hours I could call my own
A world of pages, just mine alone

CH
Now there’s time, time enough at last
Nothing but silence, and pages past
Mountains of books I wish to explore
But broken eyes can’t read anymore

V
It's been a long time just to find
End of the world, but I don’t mind
For once in my life, I have my way
Then fate has a cruel page to play

CH
Now there’s time, time enough at last
Nothing but silence, and pages past
Mountains of books for me to explore
Broken eyes can’t read anymore

OUTRO
I can see the shapes, I know the names
But the stories won't never be regained
All this time…
...all this time…
...all this time...

Love DADGAD tuning - beautiful playing and you know all the cool chords in that tuning! The synth is such a nice, subtle add. Cool tick tock at the beginning. Songs about time are so relatable. Really well done.

Ok but why does this sound like what the character would sound like singing tbh lol? Also the echo in the back really drives home the fact that he's all alone in the world now. I love this episode, it frustrates me so much but the storyline is one of my faves. I feel like this song captured it so perfectly. Great job! :)

Haunting music captures the longing of the lyrics so well. How sad and ironic. Another story if not putting things off until tomorrow. Well done for the challenge.

The guitar is perfect for this story with the western vibes! One of my favorite episodes as well... and also my worst nightmare. Great job!

Great job! I know that the challenge was just the title, not necessarily the episode plot, but having decided to go down the ploy road, you did a great job capturing the central bitter irony of the episode. It feels very dramatic and tragic, which can be even harder to capture in a 4 minute song than a 30 minute TV show.

Your lyrics really captured me. Story of my life... very relatable.

This is great. I like the slight echo effect, and the guitar sound is really cool.

I like me some DADGAD...

That's a cool chord voicing you've got here. DADGAD isn't a tuning that I've played around with, but so many friends love it and I can hear why. Good job!
