I like this one quite a bit. It's fun to play.

Lyrics

i am blue jeans
the color of fading thread
washed too many times
but maybe not washed enough
i collect the grime
dust invades my lungs
i am delicate
i feel everything
i am desperate
to be content
just give me the sun
but not too much or i’ll melt

I am underwear
Not new and wearing thin
The cracks of age
On my face
Like a talisman
Faking wisdom
Like a fortune cookie slip
Take my advice at your own peril
And a heaping grain of salt
But any problems that you have
I'll wear them on my back
mmmm
i can’t help it

oh that’s what you meant
when you said it couldn’t last
you were listening
to everyone but yourself again

i am flip flops
and your foot keeps falling out
in the middle of the night
it’s 2 AM, you are downtown
looking for a place to crash
it’s been a fuckin day
one for the record books
David Lynch died
your brain is fried
you’re hungry and you’re drunk
i’m just trying to keep up
i’ll give you blisters but it was an accident

oh that’s what you meant
when you said it couldn’t last
you were listening
to everyone but yourself again

Lots of meaning to the lyrics. Are they actually about clothes? Deciphering is part of the fun and the fact that they could be depending on the listener is the cherry on top. Very well performed. Brought a smile to my face!

now i have an idea of what it must be like if your clothes talk to you. i wonder if mine would be so ful of complaints. i think i would be so sympathetic to their plight that i would join a nudist colony. unusual idea for a song and quite enlightening

This was very good. Your lyrics are so engaging and tell an interesting story. Loved the full rocking outro. Excellent playing and production.

I really liked the guitar work here and the slow then dramatic build! I was really reminded of some Okkerville River songs for some reason. Nice.

Love this, so original and unusual and the big finish blows the cobwebs out!

Really original premise for the words. And performed with great authority. Nice job.

Super creative. Love the conceit of being various clothing items. Beautifully played and sung too!

This is subtly heartwrenching, wow. The lyrics to the chorus really hit me hard.

Oh, man, am I blue jeans, too? I can really relate to these lyrics (and also want to write about Lynch this FAWM).

Really great song! Love that picking.

I love that guitar part, wow, this is so well-constructed. This song feels nice and worn and familiar, much like the articles of clothing you describe. And fun big ending!

Ooh, loud ending, nice. I like the structure of "I am [article of clothing]" followed by twisting metaphors mixed with detours. It's like Springsteen's "The Wrestler" for indie music. And, as requested in the song, I will not be taking any advice from underwear, haha

Wonderful tune, fantastic songwriting! I enjoyed this song so much. The background ethereal “pad” sounds are extremely cool…

woohoo! Such an awesome song, and the full band effect at the end is just phenomenal, too.

Caught this on the recommended songs forum thread, and I can see why. This is just perfect. Such a cool piece of writing, just abstract enough to spark some imagination while remaining concrete enough to be accessible. I absolutely love the production too. The quiet ambient noise in the background during the instrumental intro give it a great dreamy atmosphere, and that guitar is absolutely pristine. You articulate the lyrics so well, and your voice has a great timbre - textured and just a little weary (in a good way) sounding, like well-worn denim.

This is great. I would buy it without hesitation. Probably favorite FAWM song so far.

(And I typed that before the final chorus and outro, which took things to yet another level.)
