Liner Notes

tried to get into this "wake up" skirmish a bunch of different ways, also tried some palindrome stuff (the efforts for which can be seen in the end section haha I tried reversing the second half of the bass line, all kinds of stuff.) And then I gave up on the palindrome prompt and focused on the skirmish, but 40 minutes had passed already. So I had less time to write the song and I ended up being oh so literal which..is fine

I feel that this could be about awakening spiritually, from the nightmare of the collective illusion. I prefer to wake up!

The rapid aggressive autotune works really well as an effect here, love it especially on the trill of "hurt." The disjointed ending section feels like that foggy feeling of just waking up. Great skirmish result.

The half-asleep ethereal vibe of this is absolutely on point. Then things go a bit crazy which suggests it's a Monday morning rather than a Sunday morning. Absolutely killer beat for that bit. Gorgeous harmonies throughout as well.

The effect you put on your voice in this song is fantastic. This song really feels like that transient state between dreaming and waking up, where you are just starting to figure out you're in a dream. You find really interesting effects for your songs. The vibe is so unique that I don't even know how to fully describe it.. but that's what makes it so great! Thanks for sharing. 🐸
