Liner Notes

#rock #indie #guitar #upbeat #unlearning

So i am in the final few days of my FAWM and find myself all over 3-4 songs and collabs, but ooo i do love a bit of pressure with musical joy ;-) .
So last night i had a very rough demo with no words just acoustic and me wailing away, and when i finished i thought, ooo that will be a lot of words.
But today I had a strong sense to tell a little tale again of recognising our own timelines and being kind to ourselves to see that society has taught us all a certain path which can be constrictive .
So i was playful with this and wanted to bring home the message of the importance of not allowing others or society dull that child like glee inside, and that its never too late to rediscover it.

Plus it was about time for some ROCK!!! in a melodicy way.

Various guitars with a wee bit of phaser organ and harmonies.

PHEWEE.

Massive thanks to all that are commenting. I am busy creating right now until my silent retreat but am very much looking forward to March the 1st to catch up on all you wonderful FAWMERS listening xxxxxx

Lyrics

Growing up a 50s child had dreams
Children not to be heard yet always seen
Rose tinted glasses paint the picture , all was fine
but things will be revealed in a timeline

Move on to an 80s child, what's changed
a world so new but so much still the same
Daydreams in the classroom sees detentions done
Teacher says thats right, but something's wrong

C1
So the purpose of life is so unclear
are we not allowed to shed a tear
how do we dictate with guns and bombs
when love is here?
Wearing porcelain masks we give a smile
we can hang onto that cliff for just a while
but then the day will come where cracks appear
A truth
unseen
hidden beneath

(they said) one day you will listen when you're told
Elders have the wisdom don't you know
To feel a different world release those child like eyes
learning from that daydreamed child can bring surprise

C2
Then the pupose of life becomes so clear
permission for us all to shed that tear
unlearning ingrained thoughts from history
can bring release
Ripping off the fear mask with balanced smiles
to see our worlds flourish for miles and miles
A life long lived deception them comes undone
To give
a chance
for souls
to dance
with me

C3
So hello my grateful heart you have not gone
let me bring a simple message through words and song
be the joy of who you are and spread your wingsw
to fly with me
All the hurt of hidden worlds come falling down
to embrace a deeper soul thats so profound
come together at a time to heal and ease
so shout
and scream
that inner child release

Very beautiful song, full of energy, beautifully sang, played and produced. A pleasure to listen to. I'm looking forward to our collaboration with Kristian and You. Thank you, Karlos.

This rocks in such a shiny way! Love all the layers going on. The bah bah bahs are just so damn catchy!

Wahey! Right out of the gate this is a bouncy, fun number. It's got a whole heap of 60s energy with a bit of 90s sheen. It treads a nice line between pop and psychedelic with the layers of keys and the bridge exploring the different nooks of the song, but always coming back to that huge chorus.

Wow. Incredible production all around. So catchy. Love the message, so well written through your lyrics. It would have taken me 10 years to create something this good. C3 lyrics are just so empowering and real and true and wonderful. Thank you!!

A 50's child? Didn't realise you were that old mate ;) Is that guitars playing that top-line melody in the intro/post-chorus? I love the tone of that, what ear candy! This has such a great frantic energy to it, like a bit of a half-way house between britpop and punk, if that's at all possible.

Oh YES! I have to dance along to this one, what a BOP! The bah bah bahs are so singalongable. I needed a bouncy happy tune today, and you delivered.

Phenominal. Those guitar harmonies jumping in to say hi here and there, the wah of the synths, the energetic vocals. The bah bah bahs!! Fantastic work.

Such a great , upbeat tune tackling the deeper truths. So well written lyrically and musically. My heart feels like it's bursting with joy. We really need this message in the world NOW and I hope the world wakes up soon. Be more childlike! I want the tee-shirt.

I was just in Thailand in early December--my son (with the US State Department) has been stationed there for the last 3 years. Great place. Terrific song, by the way! Got it all--lyrics, great arrangement and particularly nice vocals!❤️

Really really strong and rocking song! I love the wah filter (?) on the guitar. Nice harmonies evocative of several eras from 70s through 90s.

Smashes out of the gate and never slows down, this is awesome bounce-along fun! Great harmony lines, love those call and response guitar lines, and the chorus has a great Oasis vibe to it. The ‘ba ba ba’ section totally captures the sense of childish glee you mention in the liner. Enjoy your silent retreat man! See you on the other side…

Such an epic, fun and catchy song. So well pulled together. Love those little wah guitar hooks. Really great song and I’m glad that you made the time to give this the full Karlos treatment.

Wa wa wa wawa wa! What a line to start with that pedal. Such an awesome idea!
I really love that jolly nostalgia feeling in this song. You habe dk much power and such a cool vibe going on.
One of the strongest songs I heard this FAWM!

Aw man - that call and response between the vocal lines and harmonized guitars is worth the price of admission! "Rock in a melodicy way" pretty much sums up why I love visiting your songs every February :-).
