Liner Notes

I was thinking about Mom this morning..
I'm going to call this an #acousticonetake , but it truly took a few to be able to get through it without choking up.(and I still didn't *quite* make it)
Hug your mom, if you have that chance.

Lyrics

Better Man
All the things you wanted in life,
Didn't always come your way
But you just kept digging
Digging was your way

No matter how packed the earth,
How dull the spade
You just kept digging
Digging was your way

Young eyes didn't always know
Couldn't understand
But, the things you taught me
Made me a better man
..a better man.

All the things I wanted from life
Didn't always come my way
But, I'm still digging
I'm still digging today

No matter how packed the earth,
How dull the spade,
I just keep digging
Because you showed me the way

Young eyes didn't always know
Couldn't understand
But, the things you taught me
Made me a better man
..a better man
..a better man

So much emotion in this, and lovely wordplay. A solid write that is more than it's parts.

Aww, I love how literally you take the digging metaphor. The packed ground and dull spade totally pulled me in

Nice sentiment in the lyrics. I can see why it was hard to get through without choking up. You did an honorable job getting this recorded. Guitars and vocals both sound great!

I enjoyed this lyric and the performance. Catchy, simple and relatable. I can hear this at a late night bar gig, last set, last song of the night so you feel you'll play an original and consequently I would be one of the three people in the room catching this special performance before heading home.

Also... Thank you for checking out one of my songs. I really appreciate.

lovely. really liked when you dropped to spoken word on "didn't always come my way" - added a little johnny cash vibe. my mom is not immediately available for hugs but she did used to live in clinton!
I've also written a song this month that I had to do several takes before I could get without crying. hadn't ever happened to me before - a wild but amazing experience! glad to know it's a shared one!

Your liner notes are so touching. Beautiful story telling about your mom, and how how she raised you impacts your life today. I love these lines "Young eyes didn't always know Couldn't understand" - so very true. Great title also. Excellent guitar and love those deep, rich vocals. I really enjoyed your song!
