Space Cadet

Liner Notes

i like the idea of writing space songs that aren't really space songs (see my song "i see uranus at night"). here is a space song about being a slacker.

i want to write an actual second verse, but i also want to move on to the next idea without obsessing about every song (yet).

the video isn't much of anything, i just grabbed something quickly.

Lyrics

crash landing on planet couch
i don’t think i’m ever getting out
because the gravitational pull is too strong

my brain is a satellite
the tv is shining bright
my mind is getting dim at the speed of light

there’s nothing but
dark matter in my head
no intelligent life
there’s only rocks instead
i got xray vision
now i’m seeing stars
i might as well be living on mars

i’m on another planet
i’m intergalactic now
yeah i’m on another planet

i’m a space cadet

Nice. Clever and fun(ny). Great riff. Solid, complete song.

Really like the catchy upbeat feel of this one, chorus stays with you on this one.

Hahaha yeah.
This is an earworm for the guys in my song "Stoners".
So catchy.
That hook (vocal and guitar) is killer.
Lovely production here.
Your tunes are always so great.

Wow the ‘I’m a space cadet’ hook is insanely catchy! Good to see you get full use out of it by the end of the track. And who needs verse twos? There’s something quite in keeping with the slacker narrator that he can’t be bothered to think of any more lyrics. Intergalactically good fun here!

The metaphor works excellently line-by-line without ever seeming like a hammer to the head. Hooked from the first line. Great song structure that keeps it interesting.

Hey, I thought I had the dibs on space-themed powerpop this year! (I've actually got another one in the pipeline 😂). I like the mix of your usual nerd-rock sound with the stoner/Sabbath riff.

I really like this! Great music production and vocals! And the lyrics are great! Your voice kinda reminds me a little of Weird Al. Great stuff!
