random thought for you. You should make a video of yourself performing as a zoom call with each participant competing for the main window. your feet get a window. your right and left hand each get a window. little keyboard gets a window. harmonizer mic gets a window as does main mic and maybe a random camera angle for you as the guy who doesn't know if his zoom mic is on. gotta be a million ways to make that incredible one man band skill of yours action packed on video. fwiw.

I deeply appreciate all the comments you left me over the course of my first FAWM, most recently on "I Remember Dying" -- I am indebted to everyone who encouraged me so much!

Ok, if you keep the fart gag in then it definitely deserves a comma after Art. Probly, either way. The dada thing to do is keep it. Sonically, I'd prefer a fuzzed out bass- fart simulation. Leave the actual fart to the listener's imagination. I'm amazed at how dialed in you are to your crazy set up. The guitar sounds amazing and you seem to just effortless rip off catchy hooks with fantastic rhythm. The two mic thing not only works so well logistically but it sounds fantastic. Catchy AF!

If you need some time to rest, no worries, but if not you wanna jam something soon? AND are you doing 50/90?

Thanks for checking out Glimpse! Such a compliment that we sound like a band. Glad you liked it.

@jeff9
Many thanks for the kind comment about Wishin' is Like Fishin', Anthony.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you, glad you enjoyed "Glimpse". Took me some time to find cool sounds, but I'm super happy with the coolab!
[avatar]
Thanks for all your kind comments!

Hi, just noticed you via a comment on another song -- I believe I've heard your music before via "The Great Toilet Paper Shortage of 2020", which was the song we all needed in the world. Glad to see you're part of this community.

@brisk
Definitely not - I think your idea is solid, and it is satisfying and fun to listen to just the way it is. I was just thinking aloud and running with the (admittedly pretty obvious) idea that if you're going to use the words as an opportunity to have some meta song fun, then having a bridge that deconstructs the hackneyed "turn" idea is another possible way of developing the idea... but just because it is there isn't a reason to go with it. I just love me some obvious!

Thanks! I've already re-recorded/re-wrote one tune this FAWM, I triple-checked I wasn't doing it again!
[avatar]
Aw Anthony that's so nice you met your wife on tour! Thanks for the sweet feedback on 3,207 Miles, I'm glad you enjoyed and that you can relate. šŸ’œ

Unless I'm playing/recording with my real band, I demo everything direct to the built-in Garageband/Logic sims. Tweaking the pedalboards, heads, cabs, mics, and even mic placement is like a video game. I love it. But I hate how I've come to actually prefer that to the real thing. Maybe it's the ease and the options, but it really does sound good! Which spurred the notably more expensive tone-chasing projects. I want my DSL to supply the main tone (because Marshall) and use pedals on very low settings to stack subtle flavor: comp and boost always on, The Glove for more gain, and a Muff for the J. Mascis-style ripping. I can't stand the red channel, so leave it on green with "classic crunch" on around 4. Too crazy gainy and fizzy, with a bizarre drop of any bottom end; I know it's for "leads" but why f- with the EQ between channels? I was to the point of considering clipping out diodes but read you could die if you touched the wrong component. Long story short, the speaker swap made a big difference taming the highs and took me 5 minutes. Sorry, TMI. I should save the venting for the Marshall Forums! 😬
[avatar]
Well, i think Simon Cowell sucks, but never mind!
[avatar]
Gotta have a few good handclap samples in your collection! (because I've never figured out how to record a good real handclap/tambourine)
[avatar]
Right on. IMHO, the guitar distortion on Sha Sha rivals Back In Black as the "holy grail" guitar tone for me. I noticed your Marshall DSL40 in your videos. I play modded strats too, and the intense crispiness drove me crazy until I swapped the speaker for a Creamback. Now I'm like maybe 98% happy with it.

omg Ozma šŸ™Œ Battle scars on all my guitars dude. 😻
[avatar]
Thank you so much! Oh yes, that would be cool! :) I will check out your songs, you reached 17, wow!
[avatar]
Oh yeah, it's a shameless rip. Gotta do at least one Cherub riff per FAWM (I think 2020 was my first year with the Big Muff Pi and there were about a dozen of them...)
[avatar]
Thanks for all the comments and feedback! In Obsolete Things, there are a couple 7th chords. I have found that a lot of uke songs in C throw in an E7, so I stole that to use in the chorus. I wonder why I’ve never used that trick with guitar. Hey, something else to try this month!
[avatar]
Thanks! I think it farts around a bit too much before it gets to the middle 8, but that's easily fixed. Just gotta find something to go over that opening section that isn't just powerchords.
[avatar]
Thank you for the continued feedback and support. I’m having a blast this year
[avatar]
I love the concept of a one man band!! The methodology you are employing for your drums is way reasonable. Much respect!
[avatar]
Thanks for that explanation. I’m gonna have to read that a few times to have it all sink in. Everything seems so natural the way you do it. It’s impressive, or at least seems that way. You do it masterfully…

Gus will go outside at night for his final bathroom break and bark. Just bark. Presumably at ghosts.
[avatar]
The dog being referenced lol (we have three) is Gus. I haven't run across your cat's name (I used to have cats before I met my partner).
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to "Who Would Be Mine." Weird how it helps me not hate it if other people don't hate it. ;)
[avatar]
Thanks Anthony for your kind comments on Wear Bright Gear. I appreciate your encouragement and enthusiasm for my track.
[avatar]
Thanks! I haven't done a lot of the electronic stuff lately - it's all fiddling around with a computer and my wrists really don't like doing that too much, haha
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for your comment on Backwards. I'm glad you enjoyed! The organ is just a placeholder for a possible vocal melody. And I hope that we find a guitarist to replace the MIDI cause I can't play this yet. We keep you posted.
[avatar]
I've been experimenting a lot this FAWM - using different combinations of things. Sometimes it's all the new Zoom pedal I bought, sometimes it's miced-up, sometimes it's in the computer (usually Kuassa/Bias FX, but I've got a few options). Sometimes it's one into the other...

This particular one is just a classic 57 pointed at my Fender Mustang amp, bit off-centre, about 3 inches away. It's a modelling amp set to 'Doom Metal', which is basically an emulation of an Orange amp. I think it's just that, with the gain up and some comp and EQ (the 'Doom Metal' amp setting seems to have a really nasty spike around 5k somewhere, gotta nuke it).
[avatar]
Wow, those Sansamp pedals aren't cheap... I have the Deluxe Big Muff, but tend to stick with the Pi version when I need that kind of thing. There are plenty of Muff emulations on my computer/Zoom pedal which work, but nothing digital reproduces the Pi sound.
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to Post-Cruise Depression! Haha yes glad you found the theatrical elements to work. Appreciate the feedback!!
[avatar]
HELLO FELLOW LOS ANGELES PERSON!!
[avatar]
Thanks for your comments on temple of temptation <3
[avatar]
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and kind words re: ā€œDevils on the Trampolines of Hell.ā€ I like the line so much, and often that means the song doesn’t work, so I am really glad to get some feedback that it might be working.
[avatar]
Thanks for your recent comments on my works. Now on to listen to you some more! :)
[avatar]
Thanks for the answer about the SPD and your dancing feet! That’s a really cool way of doing it!
[avatar]
Haha I was just making a joke. I use a lot of those single string style QOTSA/Muse riffs too 🤣
[avatar]
OMG, that's harsh! Haha. I actually really liked some of the stuff on their recent Seasons EPs - just avoid the summer one (ironically) and it's pretty good
[avatar]
Thanks for the great feedback. I’m really enjoying your stuff. So glad I stumbled across ā€˜My Cat Hates Me’. I’ve been telling so many people about it. My most talked about FAWM moment so far
[avatar]
@brisk
Thanks for your comment on "Who's That Girl"! When someone breaks out a McCartney comparison I break out the metaphorical champagne!
[avatar]
Thanks! Will check them out
[avatar]
Really appreciate your thoughts on Hard Life. Not 100% on that chorus. Something bugs me.
[avatar]
Ha! Thanks for the comment. Must confess I also got cereal, kiwis, sandwich bread, milk, and bananas, but I liked the alliterative shorthand. ;)
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to my songs - really enjoying yours!
[avatar]
Ayyyy love that frankenstrat! If you’re up for a collab I’d be down to play some bass or guitar or whatever you want lol you’re a gangster!
[avatar]
@nadine
... and for the comment on "Me and my guitar", too.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks a lot for your comment on "High Noon". It's just my keyboad and some MIDI. I'm a guitar beginner I couldn't pull that off ^^
[avatar]
@djtjb
Dude! Last year was the first year EVER I did not watch AGT. Bummed I didn't catch you on there lol. I checked out your YouTube channel and saw your video of it there. Your response... priceless. The "I thought it might be good to be seen by 7 million people, but I could not have been more wrong" line absolutely killed me. Anyway, C'est la vie, right? My family and I call it America's Got Sob Stories. They really play those heart strings to the max. But somehow I always get sucked in at some point. Probably because it's on all GD year. Keep doing your thang!
[avatar]
Thanks for listening and commenting! I'm fond of the "hot plate" lyric, too. Songwriting is magic!
[avatar]
Thanks for the listen and the comment!

@nadine
Thanks a lot for your comment!

Hey thanks for checking out Storm! I had a ton of inspiration from AIC, thanks for the kind words
