Shaping up to be a lovely Saturday

I suspect I’ll need to get some honey-dos done
But right now I’m just gonna be a ol’ bump on a log
So if you don’t mind I’ll just kick back here for a bit
Sit on the porch and drink coffee with the dogs

Days consistently getting shorter and shorter
Time’s just racing by too fast
Rat races are for rats, I’ve lost my appetite for cheese
Better make these special moments last

This getting older crap is kinda for the birds
Daily grind just turns into a slog
Dig out my old guitar and write myself a tune
And sit on the porch and drink coffee with the dogs

Your guitar playing is great! So many hidden links here and there. I like the metaphor of drinking coffee with the dogs. This is so calm and pensive. But if getting older means losing appetite for cheese I don't want to.

Lovely mood and there's something very relaxing to the lyrics as well: I like this "screw it all, just enjoy life while you can" attitude.

This is so grassroots and homely - I love it. Honey-do’s made me think of a to-do list written by your significant other. Great words, guitars and vibes. Like a warm hug on a cold day. Now I want to sit and drink coffee with the dogs.

they say you should write about what you know. well, from what i know about you, coffee and dogs are not only what you know, but what you love..so this is ideal material. you make an excellent picture of a guy sitting on the porch with a dog, drinking coffee. but you go further than this, with some stellar guitar picking and a line ill think about for a long while......"rat races are for rats, i’ve lost my appetite for cheese"

Believe it or not, I'm listening while drinking coffee, with Mr Collie sprawled at my feet. Really lovely guitar picking and sound, and I love how you paint specific vivid images to convey the more philosophical musings.
