Thanks for checking out Final Friday! The movie challenge always yields some fun results.

@nadine
Hey Artie, I sent you a mail!
[avatar]
Ha! That was a surprise! Perfectly quirky! Love the pacing and the melodica!

@seppo
Yes it's like basism. Stupider lines gives way more fun. At least for bassist.

re: producer influence- For some reason the other day I remembered Ad-Rock's side project BS 2000 and went down the YouTube rabbit hole on that, so it definitely played a part right down to the organ sound I used in Xpand. And all the dialogue samples are from the first Troll movie(for whatever reason it's my go to) That final sample makes me cry laughing everytime I even think about it! Yo I'm absolutely down to keep making music after FAWM, kindred spirits indeed! I couldn't find your email anywhere so just leaving mine here inconspicuously travisbeltz @ ymail dot com.

Thanks for dropping a few comments! I have to check out that shoegaze (?) band you mentioned. About the drums - I only program beats for more electronic stuff but I would never miss the opportunity to smash my set for a noisy rock track like this. It's the best and cheapest form of therapy for me.

@arkka
Thanks for the comment! I program the drums, but the guitar and bass playing is all me.

Thanks for your comment on "Haunted!"

Thanks for your kind comments, both on my songs and on my profile. It means alot

Sweet!

Hi Artie. Thank you for your comment on "I Know What I Knew." If that music you heard calls to you at all, you are more than welcome to use the lyric. I'd be honored. I haven't got much bandwidth for recording this year. No worries if that was just a commentary on the musicality of the words, though. I appreciate it very much either way. :)

Thanks so much for your comments on "Mileage May Vary." The electric guitar is used as the intro and outro primarily because I couldn't get it to end right and thought that stripping everything to just the electric on those sections would be a nice solution. The idea for the song is really about how I feel like I'm living a double life. My work life has been very stressful and I'm alone during the week and things like endless gray weather really get to me. On the weekends my girlfriend comes over and I'm in a great mood and the sun usually comes out as well.

Thank you for your comments!
I have Watchlisted you based on the strength of your clickbait titles! ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks so much for your kind comments on โ€˜Melancholyโ€™ - thatโ€™s praise indeed! :-)

@mood
Thanks for your kind words on "I Am"! Music production is just a hobby of mine, but I've been obsessive enough that I kind of taught myself over the past 20 years lol.

This is why I shouldn't post songs when I'm drunk ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes orginal modulus is starting from 4200$ and with little option it's suddenly 6K, so we clone it with a fried who can make carbon fibre parts, so it's as close as possible to original. Maybe even better ;)
It's like Music Man Stingray with steroids.
FU-4 is most known as Flea-bass which was his signature model before he went to fender.

@seppo
Hi and thanks.
Sound is pretty much just from the bass. Line in on GarageBand, modern amp modelling with minor tweaks, more miss and highs from eq and 8x10 cab sim.

Bass is custom made modulus fu-4 replica with carbon fibre neck, rockebano composite fretboard, custom made MM pickup and old school MM 2-band eq clone.
EQ on a bass is just bass boost full off and treble boost on about 3/4 on.
I've learned that when recording bass to get a good base sound, never boost the bass signal. It just goes mooshy and it's hard to mix in. They are much harder take decrease and still sound good but it's easy to boost on mix if necessary.
I don't boost on mix either, i just like it little bit raw and snappy.

Yo! No rush, seriously. Like I said I'm just still elated you picked up on the Keith influence. Take your time. Get well! And thanks for the listens!
[avatar]
It refers to my main bass guitar, a fretted Roadie II Active Supernatural bass made by John Diggins, a.k.a JayDee. I've had it since the 80s. Level 42's Mark King used to play one, but I get a very different sound out of mine!
[avatar]
Oh yay that's so exciting artie! I'll shoot you an email for sure, I'd love to hear what you came up with. And I'm excited to see what all you create this month too! Thanks so much!
[avatar]
Nice to meet you here. We have a few things in common: social work, therapy, music and a irreverent sense of humor. Drop by and say hello!
[avatar]
Thanks for your comments about "Rush" and "Bulletin." No one's ever suggested I make an album! (I'd like to hear how the songs would sound in collaboration with actual talented musicians, though!)
[avatar]
Thank you for listening to my song and enjoying the "pasta verse". All power to pasta:-)
[avatar]
@djtjb
Awesome! I'm excited to hear it! I'm not picky at all, so yeah djtjb or Travis whatever flows better for you
[avatar]
Thanks a lot! I do have a cat, but heโ€™s an indoor/balcony cat, because we live in a second story flat. Mr. Johnson is entirely fictional ๐Ÿ˜Š
[avatar]
Thanks for your nice words. The band behind the soundtrack is called The Blasting Company if you want to check them out.
[avatar]
Ohhh.. I would love to see what you can do with nine cows and left of center is something I gravitate to!
[avatar]
Thanks for the listen and comment on Catalog Models! Bill Burr is almost inescapable in metro-Boston.

@djtjb
I unfortunately don't have a lyrical bone in my body lol. I was thinking maybe something about lab rats and/or human experiments. I'm gonna run it by my production partner @nahlej381 maybe he has some ideas.
[avatar]
@artie thank you for the kind words about song for the morning!
[avatar]
@djtjb
OMG! Yes please! I 100% was going for a Kutmasta Kurt Dr. Dooom/Masters of Illusion era feel. I'm totally down if you're feeling it. No rush, I'll be flying high for the rest of the year just because someone gets it lol!
[avatar]
Aww! Thanks for listening Artie! Harmoniums are always needed <3
[avatar]
Hey-Ho!!! Congrats on your first song! Have a great time FAWMing:-)
