Singer-Songwriter with a baritone voice and enough of a southern US accent to make me default to working mostly in country, alt-country, rootsy styles, but I love a wide variety of rock n roll, power pop, R&B, and indie stuff, so always looking to step out of the box. Guitar chops are decent enough to sketch out compositions and I’m getting better at deploying various tools to generate full productions.

I’ve been on the Muse Songwriters site for a few years with this same handle. 2023 will be my third FAWM and I participated in my second FiftyNinety this past summer, so I’ve gotten to meet a number of members of this community and to collaborate with some really talented people. Always up for those! I’ve got material posted on my Soundcloud page which includes stuff I’ve written and performed myself as well as quite a few collaboration projects where I’m usually at least a vocalist. I'm just a hobbyist at all this stuff, so no expectations beyond stimulating the creative juices and having fun.

Happy FAWMing to all!

Loving your stuff Jeff.
I haven't any country songs on FAWM this year (IMS) but if you fancied giving my country avatar Aaron Armstrong a listen here's a link to his first and only album

Hey, Jeff - I moved Like God Does to the top spot on my page, to see if we can get a few more people to hear it before they turn the lights off. It's such a good song.
[avatar]
Thanks so much Jeff for the kind comment and for recommending 'Midnight Moon' on the recommendation thread. I was lucky enough to help out with Alina's EP a couple years ago and it was a really fun to do a co-write and get her back into the studio to sing again for a song this FAWM. Hopefully, more to come in the future!

@brisk
No problem, I only go full-on effusive when I genuinely enjoy something! Very impressed now also by BIAB - didn't realise it could sound that good. I'm sure your conducting made all the difference though!
[avatar]
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the note on my soundboard... looking forward to connecting during 50/90 for some collabs.
[avatar]
Oh, 50/90… even better!
[avatar]
Ah, thanks Jeff, that’s really kind of you! Just a thought, but would you be up for pencilling in a blues collab for next year? :)
[avatar]
Dancer on Pink Beetle was literally an Instagram caption that I saw. Second time I made a song out of one of those. Amazing where inspiration can come from. And I'm very glad you liked it!
[avatar]
Thanks for your kind comment on "The Algorithm". Simon certainly gave me something fun to work with. Thank goodness for lyricists!
[avatar]
Hi Jeff. Thank you so much for your beautiful comment and for sharing your thoughts on the images my music took you to. It was fascinating to read. Instrumentals are open to suggestions and every thought is important to me. I enjoy reading what other songwriters hear in my music. My intention was to create a composition about feeling sad while it's raining in verses and have a different feel in the chorus with some hint of hope. Rain can easily cover person's tears. Perhaps this person is singing in the rain, sharing with it his/her emotions, frustrations, wanting to change something in life and seeing how the nature continues regardless. And after the rain there might be a rainbow or two, the sunshine, the hope...

Thank you for your comments on Cold Beer. I would purely love it if you gave it some music. I’m going to be visiting some songwriting friends in Nashville in about a month and it would be so cool to be able to share it as a song rather than just words! 😃
[avatar]
@crisp1
Thanks for your comments on Infinite Water, Jeff. I love the song Jacob came up with.
[avatar]
Jeff,
You made my day with your thoughts on my tune, Mess Of A Head. Thank you so much! I really appreciate that.
[avatar]
Glad you got a laugh out of Neanderthal. That’s the reaction I was hoping for.
[avatar]
@nadine
You're welcone - And thanks a lot!
[avatar]
thank you for your comments on a singer, not a fighter. i had written those lyrics for somebody else, as i am pretty good with country lyrics, but my music for them is fairly generic, and limited to the parameters of a merle haggard or kris kristofferson song, but that person was unable to get to the song so i dashed off a tune of my own. perhaps we can collaborate on some songs of this type when 50 90 rolls around. i wasnt thinking of crazy heart when i wrote the song, but just yesterday i received a comment from someone who realized the song was not autobiographical although it had a lot of personal truth in it, for himself as well as me. and then i thought, this is a song about the character jeff bridges played in crazy heart. so i was surprised when you mentioned that it would have been a good fit for that movie. thanks again for all your comments. i look forward to listening to more of your songs as the month continues.

@mikeb
Thanks for the comment on 'The Revolution'!
[avatar]
No problems. Good work on getting to 19 songs! I'm hoping to spend some time in March following up on lyrics I've written, but also catching up on all those general life tasks that sometimes get put on hold!
[avatar]
Hah, ah well, your voice was fantastic and your production decision to have Brent Mason play on your song was a strong one 😀
[avatar]
Jeff, I was very touched by your flattering and encouraging comments on my singing debut on Because It Ends. It is so nice of you to say those things. And not to worry about Elvis...he's coming by tonight to say hello.
[avatar]
Thanks for your response about Christmas songs. I'll pass along your Soundcloud link to Kristian.
[avatar]
@mikeb
Thanks for the comment on 'Dreamer'! I think I am about halfway there with the rock opera - writing the songs, that is!
[avatar]
Thx for the look and comments Jeff! An impressive pot of creative effort you got simmering here. Looks like a busy month with all the collabs. Excellent job.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you! Reminds me a bit of dredg for some reason. I really dig the loudness contrast!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you Jeff! I'm glad you enjoyed my little jazz mood. Well, I sweat for 1.5 years to play guitar like this. Now it's hard for me to decide if I continue for bluesy fingerpicking or heavy shredding. I like both 🤯 I just can't do the gentle soft stuff, so the whole singer-songwriter, folk, pop genre doesn't catch me.
[avatar]
Sent the "Nothin' Burns Like The Blues" to ya.
[avatar]
I know the feeling. I find the daunting sensation is a manifestation of respect and admiration for the lyrics and when put to good use can yield an absolute gem of a song. Much like you've done with Gabrielle.
[avatar]
Hey, Jeff - Thanks so much for all your listening this FAWM. I'm so happy you're doing so many great collaborations. I've had it in the back of my mind to try writing a duet for us, but so far it hasn't bubbled up. I was looking through my notebook today and found one that I think would be great for you for this FAWM, the 5090, or some future time....It's one that you could interpret as addressed to a complicated lover or a complicated child. I'll send you the words in case they move you.
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out my song collaboration with Doug and your positive feedback! Great to hear you like my slide playing and vocals. 🙌
[avatar]
@mikeb
Thanks for the comment on 'Rendezvous'! It was fun, and actually easier than one of my usual songs to produce - although the lead guitar part took a lot of takes to get 'close'!
[avatar]
I sympathise with your attraction to the accordion. It kind of upsets me when people dismiss it as an instrument (I've even had people declare that there is no good accordion music, and anything produced with the accordion is garbage).
[avatar]
@johns
Thanks for doing such a brilliant job with Five String Blues - love it. Can I get an mp3 of the song? I want to make a video for my you tube channel, I do it with all my favourite collabs. jsalty@btinternet.com
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out Glimpse! Your comment means a lot, especially as a non-metal fan!
[avatar]
Re: Darrell - I'm doing a co-write with Darrell outside of FAWM and he sent me mp3s of a couple of other co-writes he's done. One was "It's the Water" that you did the music for. The internet lends truth to the phrase, "It's a small world."
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for your comments, Jeff! Well I stopped writing songs for this FAWM, just waiting for the last collab stems to arrive. I listen to music when I'm bored. Or in between my breaks. Taking a big break is the best thing not to fall into FAWMtigue, ..... which I am currently now. Hope you had a lovely weekend!
[avatar]
Oh, Jeff! Your inner critic is a nasty liar - Mickey Mouse Schmickey Mouse!
[avatar]
my pleasure, Jeff. You vocals sound sincere and soulful but man, the guitar licks were just delicious on that one too.
[avatar]
Jeff, it feels like I turned around for a minute and now there are 7 new songs on your list!! Gonna dip in....
[avatar]
Thanks for commenting on my collab song with crisp1 "All the Time in the World".
[avatar]
@johns
Then Bojangles it is.
[avatar]
Thank you, Jeff! Means a lot coming from a songwriter such as yourself! You're having a fabulous FAWM.
[avatar]
@johns
Thanks Jeff, by all means use the lyrics yourself if you feel so inclined.
[avatar]
Thanks for the recommendation! <3 I am glad you were able to enjoy some of my songs. Looking forward to listening to the rest of your songs. Btw, not a pro musician, songwriting is more of a hobby with some Spotify releases every now and then 😀
[avatar]
By all means, I would like that a lot. And I suspect as a Floridian you would have some experience with cyclones. We're rather new to them, ourselves.
[avatar]
@oswlek
Thanks, Jeff. You are a good friend.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you!
[avatar]
@mikeb
Thanks forhte listen and comment on 'Xenon Headlights'!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for stopping by! Yes, Caitlin did a great job with the lyrics!
[avatar]
@nadine
Just came here to say that the next iteration of "Pay It Forward" happened. We got some lovely draft vocals now!
[avatar]
@suziek
Thank you for your kind comments on Under the Snow Moon.

I love your vocals - playing is great, too!
[avatar]
Thank you very much for your generous words on the "Canadian winter" lyrics... I appreciate it a lot...
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you, Jeff! I hope we get the 3rd iteration of "Pay It Forward" during FAWM, but the final version may take a while. I'm not able to mount my guitar mix in the next weeks :(
[avatar]
I would be honored for you to work on my song lyrics
[avatar]
I thought I had a copy of "Acadie" kicking around somewhere, but apparently not. He's one of those artists that I know very well as a producer (I've lost count of the number of albums I have where he has a credit) but not so much as an artist in his own right. I must fix that...
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks a lot for your comments! Your idea of a zombie western reminds me a bit of the series Firefly. I had to google Juliana Hatfield and Liz Phair, and yes, these girls rock!
[avatar]
Warm caramel 🤣🤣 I don't know about that man but thanks for your nice comments
[avatar]
Thanks for visiting New York with us on "It's All Okay". I particularly enjoyed reading your comment, "Like a warm blanket on your lap riding one of those NYC carriages." That seems like a line that could turn into a song, too.
[avatar]
@mikeb
Thanks for the comment on 'Ghosts of Copper Mountain'!
[avatar]
Hi Jeff
I'm so glad you enjoyed your flight with the Nightbirds! Thank you for your kind comments. Much appreciated.
[avatar]
My pleasure, Jeff. Just sorry it was a few days in before I stopped by! Hope you continue in this strong vein :)
[avatar]
Hi, Jeff, I'm always so flattered when you take time to listen to my songs. Thanks for your comments on If This is Love, I Don't Like It. I love how you always can come up with a reference song or two...you must have spent your salad days in your room with headphones on, listening to music all night. Thanks!
[avatar]
@mikeb
Thanks for the listen and comment on 'It Takes Two'!
[avatar]
Oh! I see that you had some nice things to say about Gwyn's treatment of If This Is Love, I Don't Like It. Thank you! I thought he really got into it!
[avatar]
Jeff, Thank you so much for the "lovely" comment on The Movie in My Mind. I'm enjoying hearing your collabs, too. Great that you get to work with one of Doug's. He's a fine writer!
[avatar]
Aw, thank you for the recommend Jeff ❤️
[avatar]
Thanks for visiting "One Less Crocodile". Yes, the double bass was my nod to the elephant. Thanks for noticing!
[avatar]
@crisp1
No worries, Jeff. I didn't have much of an idea about music, since I barely had time to think about it before I posted it. You did a wonderful job with it, very classy. Rest easy, my friend!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you, Jeff! I'm trying to be chill but sometimes ideas just happen...
[avatar]
Just sent you When I Get Home
[avatar]
Hi Jeff. Give me a song title, and I'll try to write some lyrics.
[avatar]
Hi, Jeff, Gwyn Jones just sent me his music & vocals for If This I Love, I Don't Like It, if you'd like to hear the song.
[avatar]
@mctown
Hey, Jeff.... saw your email... onward it goes...David
[avatar]
@crisp1
I have a super busy morning and early afternoon today (non-FAWM related), so I may not be very easy to get hold of until 3 PM or so PST. I'll try to check the Muse once or twice, when I can, to see Justin's suggestions, assuming he sends them to us.
[avatar]
@crisp1
I Wish You Would Pack Up is all yours, Jeff! You're perfect for it. I'm sending you and Oswlek a PM on the Muse, because he says he has a couple ideas for it, and he may as well share them with both of us.
[avatar]
Jeff, Thanks so much for your nice comments on If This Is Love, I Don't Like It. You are such a positive influence!
[avatar]
@oswlek
You are too kind, Jeff. Thanks for the generous comment and for your help in making sure you had somewhere to write it!
[avatar]
Have a great FAWM, I am deep into my second book now so won't be participating (probably) but I will check in and see what is going on from time to time. Geoff :-)
[avatar]
Hey Jeff - just did a tasting tour of your Soundcloud page. I enjoyed your voice, the arrangements and, of course, the songs. I'm gonna have to keep my ear on you!
[avatar]
Hik Jeff. Happy Fawming.
[avatar]
Yeah I'll definitely try to send you something. Is the idea to write everything in February?
[avatar]
So glad to see you back here for FAWM! Hoping you have a great one!
[avatar]
Thanks Jeff and happy FAWMing to you as well!
[avatar]
Hey, how are you doing? Looking for some country lyrics?
[avatar]
Hey Jeff, Counting down the days and oasting a great FAWM for you.
[avatar]
@crisp1
Hey, partner! Hope you have a great FAWM!
[avatar]
Happy Fawm!
[avatar]
@andrea
Hi Jeff. Hope you have an awesome FAWM!
[avatar]
@mikeb
Happy FAWM 2023!
[avatar]
Hi Jeff - good to hear from you! There will be madness, for sure. But somehow I doubt I'll end up with 42 songs like I did last year. That was *too* crazy...
[avatar]
@nadine
Welcome back Jeff 🙃
[avatar]
Hi, Jeff! Great to see you here again!
[avatar]
Thanks for the welcome!! Happy FAWMing to you too!!
[avatar]
Hey, Jeff - So glad you are here. Excited to hear everything you do and to write some more together this year. Maybe even pull off that duet at some point.
[avatar]
Hey Jeff! Thanks, and happy FAWMing from my side as well! 😊
[avatar]
@gm7
Hi Jeff..happy FAWMing!
