Love in December

by @brisk

Liner Notes

Here's a quick one to start. I was messing around with the guitar line last night. I love me a pedal note. But the woo woo woo section is all today, baby.

Lyrics

Heathen December
Says she don't know me
Spring, Summer, Autumn
Love in the air

Woo-oo-ooh
Spring, Summer, Autumn
Woo-oo-ooh
And winter too
Soon we will
Be starting over
Starting something new

You feel like hiding
Face in a corner
She took our daughter
Deep underwater

Woo-oo-ooh
I know you're hiding
Woo-oo-ooh
I see you there
Woo-oo-ooh
Now time's a-wasting
Every day we're here
(I'm never really there)

First of all, I love your voice. And then there's the personalization of the seasons, which is nice. I was startled by the "daughter/underwater" reference. Not sure what was happening there. I liked the song.

What a great song! Catchy and pretty and all the things! It has a 60s pop in the chords but the arrangement is more like the 90s and I love that counterpoint if that is not too pretentious a word to describe it. If it is, just insert 'contrast' in its place. j$

It's great to see you back for FAWM! I really do enjoy your tracks. I really like the melodic and chord choices in the 4-line sections, there's a slightly off-kilter discordant nudge in the second and fourth lines that feels rich to interpret. I like the lack of repetition in the lyrics, that feels important in a quite simple song structure. Really interesting listen!

Lots to enjoy in this track, not least, the beautifully arranged vocals...really, really good!

Back, baby! And who doesn't love a good woo-oo-ooh? There's a nice Blur vibe in the verse, and then I really dig the slightly staccato rhythm in the chorus. Loads of great semi-hidden things in the mix (excellent panned BVs in the background, for example). And then the outro is super lush and sweet. Also, 1.34 is a superb track length. I need to do more stuff this abbreviated.

wow! this is great! love those chord changes. and the “wooo ooohs” really sealed the deal for me. i didn’t want this to end

This sounds so smooth. It's part of the attraction. Yeah, there's an edge to this and I like it a lot, but the vocal and playing obscures it a bit. Still, there's more to love. I like the dark (even if I'm reading more into it than I should... or maybe not.)

WOW! A beautiful seemingly upbeat song with some seriously dark undertones (maybe?) Really pretty chorus that is quite ear-wormy! And I love how it got meatier the second time! Really enjoyed my listen!

Such a lovely build up of energy and tension between the guitar and drums in the chorus. I like all the woo, ooh, Wawas etc. Personally, more non-word vocalizations are on my priority list this year.

That's a really nice one to kick of with. Such a cool, laid back vibe and I love those punchy percussive interjections. Really nice!

Some would say a brisk start! But not me! Yeah this is a brisk genre “smart pop”. Great listen

Sophisti-pop, I often get associations to XTC, prefab sprout and 10cc with your music, also this time lovely tune

I like the chords and the the way you use the rhythm into the chorus :)

I love how this sounds really sparse on the surface but as you listen more and more little layers flutter past and add a real depth to it. Really nice!

Really catchy melodies here! From the guitar to the vocals. Really nice. I love those background la la's in the second verse so much. probably my favorite little detail.
