Many FAWMs ago, I wish I knew when, I wrote a song called "Good Pair of Jeans." Been a crowd fave since day one. You can watch me play it here:

A few days go I opened an old giant duffel bag from our traveling days, and it was stuffed full of Levi's, Dockers, and Wranglers I, um, grew out of, 4 or 5 years ago when my weight went out of control. Since they determined that COVID wrecked my metabolism, my doctor put me on those magical semaglutides, and I've dropped over 60 pounds in 7 months. Only 100 more to go. Yeah. I know.

Anyway, jeans inspired one of my favorites of my own songs, and this turned out to be an intro to that song instead of a song in its own right, so, there ya go.

This is the space normally reserved for apologizing for the demo.

wishful thinking put 'em there one fall
Most were worn only once or twice
And a couple pairs I never wore at all

I was gaining weight so fast I blew right past
No way that I could squeeze into those jeans
But now I'm just an inch away from a dark blue pair of Levi's
And I'm pretty sure I know what that means

Being a quilter, I love a duffel bag of old jeans. So many things to make from old jeans that are useful.

That was a wonderful cliff-hanger ending... then I read the liner notes. And watched the video. As you were. Fawmers' creativity is a never ending source of wonderment! 🙂

One of the things I adore about songwriting is the way we can take small parts of our own journeys and share them in a way that we can all recognize in ourselves.

Hah - that's so clever. Now I want to write a song back to myself as a response to a song from myself from a long time ago. Whatever, that sentence was messed up but you know what I mean. I hope the weight loss has been gentle on your body thus far - I know rapid weight loss can be a lot!

I, too, have saved clothes I outgrew in hopes they might magically fit again some day. I'm not sure what the "dark blue pair of Levi's" line signifies?
