Ok. Let's Make Music!

I'm so happy to get the first track out of the way! 😀

The title relates to the Dyatlov Pass Incident of 1959, whereupon some experienced hikers went missing in mysterious circumstances (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyatlov_Pass_incident).

The sample at the start is of my 4-year-old son, who was curious about me trying to record music and wanted to join in (great work Benji!).

The track came together quite quickly. I've probably dragged out the first section for far too long, but I enjoyed adding different parts with each repetition. I couldn't resist throwing in a dirty (drop C) guitar riff in there too, but trying to write riffs is hard! I'm also happy that I managed to use my new EBow. Overall, I'm happy with how it panned out, considering how rusty I am with songwriting these days. I could tidy up the drum fills throughout, but I don't have the time for that right now.

Oddly, I've had Dyatlov Pass on my list of song ideas for ages, so I'll have to get Benji round if I actually write it! eBow sounds ace, especially contrasted against the chug chug guitar. This is giving me 28 Days Later vibes at times! The riff totally steals it though (The Benj not withstanding!). I love how you always cram three songs' worth of ideas in one without it ever feeling cluttered.

This is a pretty quick turnaround for you! Of course, you're no stranger to dark and brooding, but this is one murky tune. The guitars are gnarly as heck, I love those stabs panning left and right. You're very good at blending electronic and rock sounds and your choice of sounds is always impeccable for what the song needs. Classic post rock dynamics going on here, you've got all the tricks.

Great intro 😄 I came upon this via the Random Song button and am so glad where it brought me. The progressive build up and adding/ variation of instruments is a winner and yes, fits well with mystery of the title. I could easily have this on rotation. 😎

That chord progression is very cinematic—cool mood for a fascinating story. Ebow texture is nifty, and dang this gets heavy when the other guitar kicks in! Nice unexpected change with the glockenspiel-thingie, and those glitchy sounds are a lot of fun too. For being over 6 minutes, it still flows nicely and i don't think anything overstays its welcome, and it all has a nice sense of a dramatic arc. Great stuff!

Couldn't resist giving this a listen; I've been a Fortean my whole life and I'm very familiar with the tale. This develops an appropriate sense of tension and threat really nicely, the step changes (when that splendid bass line joins in, and when the GUITARS arrive ) really get the adrenaline flowing, and the breakdown is suitably spooky! And everything just builds, and builds, and builds...
Dude, this is really, REALLY good.

Oh, yeah! (The guitar just kicked in.) The style of song is completely different now. It went from cyberpunk to a heist movie in the snap of a finger for me. Ooh, the glock adds a creepy element a la the song title.

Oh, heck, yeah. Guitars in the final section (before the tag) are most triumphant!
