Mantra to Self

by @judypie

Liner Notes

It started with a bassoon yo’..
In garage band obvs, I don’t have a bassoon. Or a erhu for that matter. And I misplaced my warm 70s Bass.. Luckily they were all available to play with in the ol’ sandbox.

An erhu?! This is something a bit different from you! I rather like the tone of that electro bassoon. There's something quite relaxing and almost hypnotic going on here. I'm not imaging those distant vocals either am I? Enjoyed this one!

Have you noticed how the Soundcloud logo looks like bogie coming out of your nose?
And what the hell is an Erhu? A table from IKEA? (I already made that joke somewhere else except not about an Erhu).
I want this to be some incidental music from a 70s stop motion puppet show….specifically created by Oliver Postgate.

This is a great vibe, weird and chill at the same time. Would work well as the soundtrack of some philosophical movie. Well done!

Heheh I very much relate as I'm using GarageBand at the moment. Bloody love the erhu! Very relaxing n logeky loops here

Good acoustics in that sandbox, too! This has a really nice vibe to it, definitely feeling that mantra / meditative quality.

I'm liking the repetitive Drone nature of this a lot.
Yeah, this is so nice.
The bassoon was a good choice.

I’m totally onboard with the Sigur Ros Video Game combo. Meh who needs lyrics

Fuck I'm a bit behind on commenting so here we go.
I was waiting for vocals so this is a nice surprise. It's of course chill and I envision a boat lost out at sea. Or link in some hidden level on his way to save Zelda.

First I love the idea of a mantra being an instrumental piece...The words are so loud in my own head, but it feels good to have the music connect directly with my insides. Like all those yoga teachers reminding me to breathe, except effective.

Very chill. We have a friend who plays bassoon, like in a top-notch classically-trained way and it's got such an awesome sound. It plays so well with everything you're swirling around it here. Like a big swirly tub of nommy ice cream. Or something.

Can’t say I have knowingly heard a lot of bassoon before but now all is right with the world. That was awesome and subdued and healing all at the same time. Thank you 🕶

Ooo, I felt like I might playing a SNES game with that bassoon intro! That's a really nice progression swirling round, I love that it doesn't change but the dynamics build around it. Beautiful!

Sooooo dreamy! Lovin the bassoon work (i would've assumed you'd learnt it just for this track, if not for the liner notes!) and the spectral vocals.

Putting the bad ass in bassoon!
Lovely mix of textures and swells, very soothing for the soul. Getting me some Sigur Ros vibes.
In the first 30 seconds I was ready for some massive beat drop, but when I realised it wasn’t coming I just closed my eyes and rode the wave. Ad can sort out the remix though😜

I love this. I did not expect this sound at all. There's no way it needs lyrics, but it is making me wonder, if there could be another section. Maybe I'm trying to make a song out of it, but it is really a composition. I am gonna listen to it again! @judypie
