Bamboo Spine
Liner Notes
Three tracks in a day - I don't think I even managed this back in the day. I fear I may get a nosebleed if I don't calm down...
Anyway, I've been having some problems with my back and it appears it might never really improve - not exactly jolly subject matter I'm afraid.

Lyrics
Rotate left rotate right then up towards the sky
Hot water like water dispersant
To lubricate and straighten this bamboo spine of mine
Lean left lean right then down but not that far
Sit right, sit straight, take pills, not mine
But may help with this bamboo spine of mine
You tell them that there’s sunshine while you shelter from the rain

If there’s a recurring feature of your songs this year it’s how wonderfully they build, you’re very good at introducing new elements at the exact right time. The drums coming in on this, and the introduction of the mega harmonies at the end both work really well

Wow Dan, this is powerful stuff! Loving the intimacy and acoustic instrumentation on this one, really suits the mood. I'm getting some Thom Yorke vibes in the arrangement and chord choices, top shelf of course.
Great job kicking on with a flurry of songs, they must've been caught up in you the last little while!

That last repeating line hits hard. I like the feel of the track, like something off of Death Cab's Plans, which is to say somewhere between wintry and a hospital drama.

Oh my, this is heavy and beautiful—as the subject matter calls for. The layers are amazing. You’ve done very well with this!

I need to come back with proper headphones; no way this deserves crappy phone speakers!

Sorry about your back 🙁 isn't being old brilliant? I feel like I'm in some kind of pain about 80% of the time and I've never even had a major injury to explain any of it. Panda gnawing on my bamboo limbs. Anyway the song is lovely and your voice sounds really great, glad you got these three done and fingers crossed for more!

Back troubles? welcome to the club. Not a very prestigious club mind.
This is very nice…slightly moody and dark which suits your understated vocals. If they need a theme song for a Scandi-noir series about a grumpy Danish detective with a bad back, this should be in the running.

So listenable! You've made a tough subject a glorious sound track. What harmonies!

Blooming heck Dan, settle down! Really though, well played doing 3 tracks. Did hunching over your computer all weekend help the matter at hand? (sorry, bad taste). The soulful vocal harks back a little to Getting it Wrong which is giving me all the emotional nostalgic feels. There's some tasty chords blossoming out of those close vocal harmonies!

loving the dark harmonies you set up with that initial piano - really haunting vocals in that first verse - and it drops beautifully into the 'bamboo spine' lyric. Really tasteful writing, at once modern and reminiscent of so much. thoroughly enjoyed.
