Short & Happy

Liner Notes
Sticking with the short theme and not being in the mood to sing, here's another instrumental...Short & Happy. I think it's appropriately named. It started as an acoustic track recorded through a tube amp and a direct microphone (I did figure out a way so the microphones did not have phase issues). I quite like the progression but it was a little thin as I was playing pretty high up the neck for the first melodic motif. It's dropped D tuning (actually 1/2 step below) and I added a bass track and an electric guitar track to fill it out.

@nuno
Great chord progressions in there; very satisfying 😀 It’s all very soothing. Great job.

The way the acoustic and electric complement each other is really smooth, and the drop D adds a nice depth. The whole piece has a warm, inviting vibe—definitely lives up to the title!

I like the motif and how you use it, and you've done a nice job arranging.

I'm totally enjoying your 'short' theme. Awesome guitar giving off in-the-country-on-a-blistering-hot-day-but-I'm-in-the-shade-of-my-porch-plucking-my-geetar vibes.

Lovely vibe! I didn't get shorter, but I'm definitely happy in a mellow and zen kind of way!

Oooooh! This is lovely! I love how each instrument occupies its own sound space and converses with the others. Makes me picture a group of instrumentalists sitting on a set of stairs or on different branches of the tree playing together.

Love the pitch bends and the slack key feel of this. The high parts really fills it out. No notes.

Ooh yeah that electric gives it a really nice gritty blues feel, and the bass definately gives it something to hang onto along with the rythmic acoustic guitar. Love this - it feels like it takes you on a journey but has this little hooks and riffs to bring you back home.

I love drop D tuning. The interwoven parts between the acoustic and electric guitar along with the bass make for a really resonant piece with nice contrast (even with playing high in the neck). I enjoy learning about what you are trying and listening to the output. Wonderful!

You. The. Man. Such great playing. Love the way the electric and acoustic lines interweave and play off each other. And the ascending sections into the breaks. Well done on cracking those pesky phase issues!
