Liner Notes

Thought I'd keep it simple by writing an instrumental for my first song again this year... As a result I probably spent more time on it than if I'd have written lyrics!

Had fun playing around on my recently acquired vintage Japanese acoustic at least :-)

I've listened to a lot of 'modern' trad Irish music this year, so this may be coming through.

Feeling very dusty on the mixing side of things! Hopefully nothing that hurts anyone's ears.

@fonte
Wow this is very very good. The rhythm in the playing is impeccable. Love how it progresses and the other percussive elements. A really great track

I've been into a lot of modern folk stuff in recent years too - esp. Lankum, Lisa O Neill, melostme etc.

This is so well layered and I really like that repeated riff you've got on the top. I could listen to a whole album of you knocking out tunes like this!

Beautiful track mate. Love the change and then how the first motif comes back. Killed it.

Hypnotic. Oooooo the biddly bits, I don't know how else to describe your flourishes, it's the bits where you go biddly biddly. Those bits. Crazy tasty.

Really intriguing track. Love the seamless blending of the traditional and modern styles. That main doubled staccato motif is terrific. It’s kind of stuttering quality to it yet at the same time it’s got momentum also.

Oh I love this, the way the time sits across the melody and the tight forward motion in the groove. Yay!!! I can hear @tan482 playing a fiddle tune over this (though it’s got some pace)…. Just saying. ;)

I like this! It's really creative and something a bit different. Musically the twists and turns keep the listener on their toes. The whole things builds really nicely towards the end where the circle is completed. Great start buddy, I enjoyed this 😊

The building layers of guitars is so cool. Totally wasn't expecting it to open up into that airy solo, nice mood shift and it's cool how it all ties in together at the end.

This is a VIBE. Makes me want to simultaneously dance and play tunes = best combo!

ooh rhythmic! love how it builds up, and how the beat 'locks' it all in.

On some of the longer runs you get that full Irish folk vibe. I like how the duel acoustics come back in against the slide guitar to resolve it, that works so well.

Beautiful hanners! Totes took me out of the humdrum of cooking up my lunch! It’s also giving me vibes of the Sega classic, Outrun! 😅 Can totally imagine driving the Cali coast with the top down 😁

yup, bristling with jig juice and sounds fiddly as hell :)
those nylony percussions (?) left and right are fun!
blossoming in the middle too... good start!

mmm-mm, there's some tasty layers you've built up here. The staccato playing births a really cool rhythm throughout. Whilst trad. Irish music is clearly an influence here, there's a real contemporary feel to it too.

the guitar is recorded really nicely, sounds so crisp and clear. All the interlocking riffs sound great together and the muted guitar line as a percussive element works really well. The slide is a nice addition in the second half of the track as well

Man that guitar's tone is great. Always love a song with a slow build. The slide break is well timed and fades nicely into the end.

Awesome playing, and I love the way the layers build. I really wasn’t expecting the break in the middle with the great slide, but then the way it returns to the main riff is cool. Really enjoyed that, thank you!

Mmm, vintage Japanese acoustic sounds good! Mixing sounds great too! In my modest opinion, Irish music could use some modernity and a little variety as well, and you done good! Wasn't expecting the solo guitar at 2-minutes. . . and wow, the two guitar harmony parts that close out the song are pretty amazing. Congrats on a pretty great first!
