Liner Notes

Those of you know who know me may know my emotions sit *somewhat* close to the surface. One of the emotions quickest to rise to the top is anger.. DONT WORRY PEOPLE, LOVE IS RIGHT UP THERE TOO!! Honest I am working at keeping it in check. But it sure was cathartic to let it spill over here. This was a (very) quick write which stemmed from a title I came up when the Gisele Pelicot case was breaking and there was not nearly enough MEN talking LOUDLY about how fucking disgusting it was. And well as you can see, everything just rolled out from there.
It’s a very rare one take for me. The beauty of a protest song I guess! Who gives a fuck what you sound like?! Clearly I do not and honestly I’m tempted to only do one takes from here.. it’s soooo FREEING?! I mucked up some lines along the way but again, comes with the genre right :p

Enjoy and sorry for all the swears! I did do you the service of removing cunt from it though!! You’re welcome people!

Lyrics

Where’s your fucking outrage now?
We weren’t put here to bow down!
I’m a woman and I’ll choose what that means!
You’re not dictating what we can be!
From the river to the sea they’ll be free!
Tell me where’s your fucking outrage now?
It’s time to show it oh and how!
You’re preaching freedom but you mean control
Watch the world burn as you shit on your throne!
Write the rules in blood on stolen land
No more silence and no more fucking peace!!

No justice?! No retreat!!

I said where’s your fucking outrage now?
How young’s too young to be your bride?
How many nos will suffice?
You’re a rich man with a skeleton key
Fuck the world over and still you walk free!
No more silence no more fucking peace!

No justice? No retreat!

Our cries unheard you’ll turn a blind eye!
Try erase us as we multiply!
Not all men but the whole fucking town!
Look the other way while they tie her down.

I said where’s your fucking outrage now?
Tell me where’s your fucking outrage now?

No justice? No retreat!
No justice? No retreat!

You've done a great job of channeling raw anger here. That case was just so shocking for so many reasons. We're all used to stories of individual people doing unspeakable things but with this it felt like another level - so many people involved - people who were seemingly considered normal by others in the past. The whole thing was utterly terrifying - it's a story that absolutely must be told and reflected on.

I love your straight to the point lyrics and singing! This is a style that just needs to come back and it seems you will be ready. Very well done and I agree that just going for it gets the message across better.

Focusing first on the song, this is Reggae ready. The mood and vibe, this is the kind of passion and delivery that makes classic reggae music and yet it suits just fine as is. Raw and real.
On a more sensitive note, I love being a guy but holy shit testosterone can be one ugly son of a bitch. It's damn scary being a female in this machismo driven social construct. God bless the witch!

@sailingmagpie Normally it hides in Scunthorpe.

You can really hear the seething behind your vocal delivery and the grungy choruses are really cool. I'm wondering where the cunt that you removed fits!

I'm only here thanks to @adforperu but I didn't realise you made music too until about 10 minutes ago, Julie. So here comes the positive feedback for you. This is ace. Huge. I love the pin-your-teeth-to-the-wallness of it. Has a Patti Smith quality which I admire a lot. When I try and write rage songs I hide them behind metaphors - maybe I'm a coward. You have no cowardice!

Dayum Julie! Preach it Sister! I love this because of how hard you lean into it with your anger! This is a perfect example of where swearing makes it better! It amplifies. Clarifies. Perhaps even dignifies. I am enjoying your repeating melody and your vocals are powerful. Unyielding. Non-negotiable. Perfect! Really strong song my friend!

I had to look up the case and god damn what absolute disgusting case. This is great and needed. The one take liberates definitely you should really do more of them. Where is your outrage now applies to sa many other cases too and the part of the rich man with a skeleton key is disgustingly correct on many levels. Power to you for doing this!

I had to look up the case while listening. It's so disgusting. Your anger shows and it turned into an excellent protest song.

TBH, I avoid most of the news these days so I wasn’t aware of the Gisele Pelicot case. You’d think the bar of human depravity couldn’t get much lower but no 😕. I see the necessity to vent your outrage.

This is a really good take... and I mean that in both senses of the word. The power of an army in those vocals. Really strong lyrics. It sucks that we need songs like this but we absolutely do and this is excellent.

Well I'm sat right next to you in bed right now and I suppose I better be nice if I don't want to feel this wrath 🫥 JOKES ASIDE, this was very enjoyable and you channel the anger in a very listenable way, and it brings out a whole new timbre in your voice. There's no hiding in the lyrics, they're up front and centre, and they're uncomfortable just as they should be ✊

Seconding @blindkiwi ’s remark on the energy and distortion here. Maybe it’s the speakers I’m listening on, but there was a lot of warmth in the mix that made it feel raw and overdriven.

It’s nice seeing other FAWMers writing about current events, this is my new favorite track

Not sure if it was intended but the occasional distortion coming through in places is perfect. Outrage isn't clean, it is raw and bites at your soul and conscience and that is what this song does in spades. Fuck those who would stand by and accept that shit and fuck those who participate even harder. Well written and sung. 🕶

Pure emotion. Love it. Bitchin!

Powerful lyrics, and absolutely justifiable rage! This is great!
