Lyrics

reflector swaying like a heat-haze hallucination
a frost blooms in the most unlikely places and it’s so blatant
my temple yields to the moon’s quiet pull
why do i never feel full
and now this quirk is dyed in the wool
body horror is a horror and it’s a real thing
when i’m alone with my own thoughts i’m glad it makes me sing
I am the keeper and the architect of this old frame
it keeps me busy lighting lanterns in the empty space
once, i was a giver, a jagged stone, worn smooth by miscellany
trying to access a memory that’s glitchy and it’s grainy
a body a house with wooden stairs and each step groans beneath the shifting weight then vanishes into the air

are you happy with the form you’re in - what’s that like?
age made it easy giving into sin
what are you like?
making moles out of everything
i’m the soy boy who cried wolf,
i’m the butterfly that tried wolf
i’m best friends with the wolf 'cause i don’t eat animals
but i’ll make sure to thank the kid who made my telephone
here’s a way to birth a new fear: what if i only have twenty more years?
what if my worst years are in front of me?
keep drifting ‘cause I’m ok currently
can i tell you a story that’s boring
“yeah you already told me this morning”
ohhhhhhh well

don’t worry i’m doing a bit
don’t worry i’m doing a bit

this is the type of songs we love of yours the most. so uniquely you. a bit of 80s snuck in too - the coolest melody line, and the way you rap is so effortless. I love how it dissolves at the end. Its vintage, yet fresh somehow. How do you do this?

Dodgy pun title? Stay in your lane, Follett, dodgy pun titles are MINE. Love the slow synth swells of the intro, so when the beat comes in over the top it feels like it’s double speed almost. Lots of great one liners in this. I like when you do the pitch shifted vocal thing, also a big fan of the repeated “don’t worry I’m doing a bit” coda.

@what
Yeah, big Boards of Canada vibe in the synth sound - that's so cool! It's a good combo - BoC sound and hip hop - and works great here! nice wordplay all day long - and then the 'doing a bit' defence at the end is self affirming, even in a cynical environment like modern society (where it's easy to take things the wrong way). in moderation, depreciation is a valid form of expression. Thanks!

That main synth hook is gorgeous. Both the lyrics and the delivery are great - christ, this stands up even without the music! I think we're all glad that when you're alone with your own thoughts it makes you sing 😊

Great beat, great flow, warm synths, cool attitude. Good tune.

@ddd
The flow on this one is absolutely immaculate. Constantly kept me engaged. The rap bit is genuinely a top adforperu fawm moment.
Love it!

Love the beat, and the synth tones. The verse 2 rapping is top notch. Eerie-cool ending too. How did you learn to make beats?

Lovely warm synth-work on this one, it's like a big electronic hug. A hug that should be directed back at the vocalist, by the sounds of it! Excellent work as always.

The production is ace, I really enjoy the beat and the synth line. Great lyrics to go with it! And the sung lines going out end the song in a surprising way. Very cool tune (as always).

you're doing plenty, you can't save the animals AND the kids Ad! This got me moving for a bit of deskercise this morn thank you. it's got that classic Ad rap vibe. I especially like the deep voice on verse 2 that we get after the *sparklezzzz*

I really love these lyrics with all the strange and wonderful psychological metaphors. The spoken word delivery and production is so good on this. Very inspiring.

I listened to this one in the car, great mix as per usual!
That synth is so lovely and warm, is that the new Behringer one?
Nicely done on the semi spoken vocals in the first section, which sets the stage for your semi masculine baritone rap section.
Very reflective piece from you, and some grand imagery to suit the dreamy bed track you laid down in. Sublime stuff!

Love the slightly Boards of Canada vibe in that progression. Not much idea about what you’re banging on about but it all sounds enigmatically lyrical which is kind of what it’s about isn’t it? This is another cracker. Some exceptional stuff from you this year.

I love the vibe. "Best friends the wolf because I don't eat animals!"
This is wonderfully fun. I rapped along with you! "Don't worry I'm doing a bit" :) Liked this profusely my friend!

Hey I’m a self-identified soy boy! I eat a lot of tofu haha. I love the switch from the first verse to the deeper second. Really great beat, great lyricism (I think I like these last few lines about telling a story you’ve already told most but there are lots of highlights) - you continue to impress!

not the most typical music to rap with, but adam makes it work beautifully. the quality of the writing and the variations on the phrasing kept me enthralled throughout. i especially liked the second section.

That is some lyric, I got a ticket for the full ride! I think I might take the return trip! Really good
[avatar]
So glad I bought the ticket to get on this train.
I think this might be the most lyrics from you i've ever seen? or maybe i'm not remembering correctly. Absolutely love this, the vocals creating a rhythm of their own. Those first three lines of lyrics are pure poetry.
