Please Cut Off My Head

Ever wish you could stop thinking? There IS a solution ...

Lyrics

Please cut off my head
cos my head is defective

Cut off my head, toss it in the garbage
donate it to science or use it as a cabbage
to kick across
your lettuce-green lawn

Cos I don't want it anymore
no I don't want it anymore

After you cut off my head
just leave me for dead
scoop out my brains like a cantaloupe
and use my skull as a candleholder

Cos I don't want it anymore
no I don't want it anymore

And I'll thank you for taking this off my hands
cos it's bad and sad and I've had enough
and I don't want it anymore
no, I don't want it anymore

Very cool, the layered vocals and spinning image serve to enhance the feel of being run ragged and the need for the cut.

"...use it as a cabbage
to kick across
your lettuce-green lawn"; reminds me of when I was in High School. We were sitting in class, bored of course, and suddenly a cabbage comes flying through the open door and bounces off the blackboard. The teacher picks it up and puts it on his desk and continues with the lesson without missing a beat. No one ever said anything and we all just continued on.
To this day I still question whether I hallucinated the entire thing.

A bit of a terminal solution methinks. This has a gentleness for such a lyric, lovely guitar! Clean and crisp

Love the use of echo, especially the fantastic build effect for the outro, great subtle intensification.

Love the guillotine. Guitar so clear and present. Wistful, just say goodbye!

The lyrics could be used in a very depressing song, but they way you perform them here, they're more fantastical and searching; it's not a plea for help so much as a mission statement to enter a realm of different thinking. And I'm delighted to go along for the ride.

(I really like the video too if even it made me dizzy, which I think is oddly appropriate!)

Mesmerizing guitar! I think this would be effective. I'm gonna pass on using your head as cabbage, though. But seriously, there's something poignant about that plaintive refrain, something that cuts through the absurdity

I share sbs' thoughts. I hope to reattach my head in the A.M. Nice work, Scott!

@sbs
Maybe just cut it off at night so I can sleep. Then reattach it the next morning - lol! Good to hear you again!

"scoop out my brains like a cantaloupe"
This resonates with me, how free we would be without worries and anxieties planted in our brains. Your descriptors and ideas always light my thoughts on fire.

Oh, i know this feeling!
But as long as we are here we have to think!

I like the melancholical guitar playing (as you know) and i can relate to your thoughts!

for some reason, mention of the lettuce-green lawn makes me see the head rolling across it. the guitar part would be fitting to underscore a movie scene of a convict being escorted to the guillotine. isnt it odd that headless figures in fantasy and horror films still function with all the dexterity of those who have retained their heads?
