Liner Notes

#country #romantic #biab
The more I played around with this lyric from @mctown & (deleted), the better it got, not that theirs don't always knock me out right away anyhow. Maybe it's because Valentine's Day is coming up and romance is in the air. Might have to share this one with the beautiful woman who's been by my side for nearly forty years now.

Lyrics

That's What I Know
Lyrics - Graham/Daniel
Music - Jeff Walker

Sure, I’ve seen some crash and burn
I’ve seen others lose and learn
But, Darlin', now it’s our turn and I know this
Sounds corny, but it's the truth
You love me and I love you
There ain't nothin' I wouldn't do
It all makes sense

Chorus
That’s what I know
That's what I know
From my beatin' heart
Even as far
As my very soul
I dont have to think about it
'Cause there’s no way I could ever doubt it
I'm wise to realize
I wanna give it a go
That's what I know

My best friend says you are cool
Says man, you’d have to be a fool
To not want that precious jewel in your hand
I said, buddy, I know that's right
I wanna be with her every night
I'd give everything that's mine to be her man

repeat chorus:

bridge:
I know I sound like some black and white movie
but it's your kiss I can't resist
oh, it moves me

repeat chorus:

Perfect song. Just realizing I hadn't listened to any @mctown -generated songs until this one. Great, great collaboration! ❤️

Loving the full production on this one. The best line to me is "from my beatin' heart even as far as my very soul", great timing and delivery there. Coming out the bridge it especially hits, as the chorus from "that's what i know" just really is picture perfect timed and delivered. The verse about the best friend is corny as hell, but it works, especially that the word corny was already used in the first verse but especially from the bridge about it being a black and white movie.

I love everything about this track...soooo good in every respect!
I reckon Don Williams would have had a #1 with this and you never know, maybe someone still will...I certainly hope so!

Here we go the 3 amigos! I could say I like it before I heard it I knew it would be a good lyric classically and nicely delivered and Lo and behold here it is!

I think the clever thing here is to keep the words so simple, and then let all those lovely internal rhymes create a very natural flow to the lines. The hook melody from Jeff hits you right in the feels too, as does the warmth and wisdom in the vocal delivery. This is textbook, classic songwriting from start to finish, well done all.

Precision singing, hits the mark every note. Lyrics are the best. Wrap it up with a bow and some flowers.

Great job, Vaughan and Jeff.

Sweet and so smooth on the ear. One of my pet musical peeves is leaving too much space between sung lines - but the big exception is when great picking fills the spaces. You do that so well here ! 'I wanna give it a go / That's what I know' is a perfect little couplet that's like an arrow to the heart.

@sbs
I agree with @billwhite51 - Happy Valentine’s Day to you two lovelies, Jeff and Mrs. Jeff!

@mctown and (deleted) write the best damn country lyrics in the world todat. they never disappoint and almost always inspire. and @jeff9 is their best interpreter, both in his music and vocals. he is not afraid to delve into the heart of the lyric and come back with a classic song, the kind you feel has always been their, just waiting to be born. this is one of my favorites from this group, jeff never hits a dishonest note, and his way of rounding out a musical phrase is like n exclamation point made of silk.

Great collab! The classic country feel is a great setting for a lovely lyric. The tasty guitar fills and your smooth baritone are perfect for the song.
