Wanted to make an upbeat, "sort-of-pop" song, but it never turns out how I hear it in my head....I would like to remake this song and maybe faster? It is meant to mean that life isn't always as it seems, but enjoy it anyway, this is your one journey!!

Fun to hear all the "Oh, Susanna"-style reversals in the lyrics. This song has a nice loping gait, I'm not sure it needs to gallop -- it works wonderfully as is. You've sent a very Zen letter in a charming musical envelope.

Love the earthy, nature theme for the journey as we are earthbound souls! Nice laid-back vibe and of course you ever beautiful voice "round" out it.

Wow! Nice musical structure and contrast. I love how the verses and chorus play off each other. And then the bridge blooms into major! That was satisfying. The singer is a very benevolent and playful spiritual coach; the wry humor and commitment coming through in equal parts. Love the way you glide into the notes!

I really really love the melody you've created here!! The chorus is amazing, and the bridge vocal harmonies are heavenly!!!. To make this a total package, the lyrics are delightful...a touch of humor, a touch of reality, and a good dose clever!! What an enjoyable listen!!! Wow... loved this...

Agreed it could be a bit faster if you're aiming for upbeat pop, although I'm a bit biased in my taste. As it is, it's got a nice calm vibe, so speeding it up might kill that. Love the parallels in the verses, and the chorus is nice and catchy.

Interesting lyrical structure, it makes you think. The vocals sound great with those perfect little slides, I'm so glad you're feeling better. Bluesy bits creeping in there! You just can't help it. 😄 This is low-key upbeat, if that makes any sense whatsoever. It's a neat vibe.

This has a delightful upbeat feel to it even if it isn't as 'upbeat' as you might like it to be. I love the vocal inflection in the line "this is the journey of your soul". Great lyric, wonderful chords and music. Awesome stuff!

Love the groove - I understand what you mean though about how we hear it in our head. I like how you take the melody down on "thing" in the chorus - the melody is so catchy! Great lyric "Dark of the Day and Light of the Night" - wonderful to hear your voice again!

"Drips of sunshine" is a great phrase to kick this off with. Although this is upbeat, it's also filled with melancholy and reflection, as if the narrator is trying to convince herself that good things will happen one day. Also like "the flowers frown." The bridge is really effective ... I love the chords you're playing and the mellifluous vocals.

I didn't even notice all the lyrical subversions on the first listen. They're very cute. Your upbeat, pop-ish delivery is so enjoyable that I had to actually read the words to see that all the nouns had swapped verbs.

This is a cool and ever-so-slightly sultry song, which delivers your intended theme with aplomb. The title hook has smoke and punch and I looked forward to every iteration - I feel it could also sit at the start of a chorus as it has a lot of kinetic energy and could potentially lead into more waxing lyrical - but what you've done works perfectly well.
