Life Is Just Microdosing Immortality

by @anthonykapfer

Liner Notes

here is something less heavy and scary than my last few songs. acoustic folk powerpop with nonsense lyrics.

the acoustic guitar is tuned down to D standard, because i wanted a kind of dirty edgy folky sound.

definitely influenced by beck, ben kweller, and jeffrey lewis on this one.

Lyrics

there's dead rats
huffing glue traps
taking naps
and there’s a time lapse video
grandma passing gas

we’ve been worshipping the devil
like it’s going out of style
and if you don’t like it
you can go to hell
and on the way
let’s stop at taco bell

i order fast food when i'm too lazy
to microwave something for myself
i keep all of my money in my sock drawer
so i have to keep my socks
in my wallet

late stage capitalist pig
is acting mean
with a 38 special
and a dirty magazine

i punched my landlord in the face
i kicked his ass to outer space
i got a rent controlled apartment
for a while

i got a rent controlled apartment for a while

i order fast food when i'm too lazy
to microwave something for myself
i keep all of my money in my sock drawer
so i have to keep all my socks
in my wallet

i was my own boss for a while
but got fired

i got some powdered fire
all you have to add is water

and i think that drum machines are
just a type of time machine
life’s just microdosing immortality
life’s just microdosing immortality

life is microdosing immortality

And on the way let's stop at taco bell got me in the door. I stayed for the socks in the wallets. Love the laid back vibe juxtaposed with the not so laid back lyrics. Catchy af too.

1. Best title I’ve ever seen
2. Every line is just magical it’s that place that I love where philosophy punk rock humor and horror all sorta collide it’s hilarious and poignant and makes me do a think
3. Your videos are so watchable and that’s a whole other branch of creativity that I gave many thumbs up to…
4. Again you make music, it seems, that is made just for me. When I can hear your influences, I’m like “o shit , me too!” And your music just rubs my ear clit…sorry not sorry.

Dig the lyrical content to sum up the narrative, has similar connection with the other heavy riff tracks, like the mellower track between the amps on an album.

Love these lyrics.
Especially the first verse.
Awesome title, too.
Yeah, you just keep pumpin out them bangers.

Impossible not to like a song with the line "i punched my landlord in the face, i kicked his ass to outer space". Which reminds me - I haven't written a landlord song yet! Wouldn't be FAWM without... more than one

I love this, feels right out of the 90s! Catchy melody, lovely thick guitars, and colourful lyrics

So many great lines in this tune! I think the fast food/microwave bit is my favorite. Overall, flows really well, which can be tough with a relentless flow of surreal lyrics.

Dude you’re on a roll this year. Love the different sounds you’ve been exploring. The guitar and bass tones sound so cool together. Love the mix of abstract and concrete lyrics - feels very 90s.

lyrics are strangely profound

Thoroughly entertaining, as expected. Never heard you play an acoustic song before, that was a fun change up for me. I think the first verse is my favorite. An instant classic...

Great lyrics. Great concept. Nice grunge-y folk tune. Funny how nonsense often makes more sense than direct intent.

I always stop at taco bell on my way to hello (typo, I'll keep it)

Seriously though: life is microdosing immortality - that is a profound nugget.

I really enjoyed this surreal power pop gem. I definitely hear the Beck influence! Very catchy, one of those songs that sounds like an old friend even from the first listen. And I just love the line about having to keep my socks in my wallet. Awesome!
