I woke up just before 6am this morning and thought I'd get up, put the kettle on and sit with my guitar.
The inspiration for the lyrics was that someone once told me that if the first thing you say is, "White rabbits" as soon as you wake up on the first of the month it's supposed to be good luck. (Despite knowing this for many years I have never actually managed to do it. Once I tried using a recording of me saying white rabbits on my phone alarm but it didn't work as my first words that morning were, "What the...???".

Anyway, I started googling different superstitions around good and bad luck and this fell out of me.

It is picked on the guitar and has bar chords all the way through so my hand is now a claw.

Very happy with this for first fruits. :-)

Ha. I've totally had this experience. Great song! I like the expressiveness of your performance. I also like how the lyrics are pretty funny, but the music feels very serious. It's adds an interesting depth to the track.

What a cool back story. And gorgeously realised in this song. I particularly loved the way the 'So please stop being so cute' keeps breaking into the flow. Wonderful playing and singing. Brilliant opener :)

I love this idea and the superstitions, I grew up with many of them. I like how you contemplate them and love the chorus melody. Wonderful guitar playing, really enjoyed this and I did say white rabbits on your suggestion LOL!
