Frutiger Aero

Skirmish: Frutiger Aero (@rinwolf)

Liner Notes

#overtimeskirmish #acoustic #design

I did this over the course of a 24 hours so not a skirmish, but putting it here with the rest cos it was such a cool prompt. (Plus a considerable amount of time was spent learning to play a new chord (Bdim) )

I didn't know the term, but of course i KNOW it having lived through the last 20 odd years.. Was very interesting to gather all that together into something i now know is A Thing and i enjoyed the research. Such a vibrant subject for a prompt and deliciously unlikely! thanks @rinwolf

Lyrics

aurora borealis sweeping swathes across the screen
and every single button has a sheen
raindrop bokeh bubbles in a shallow depth of field
fresh and zingy zesty citrus peel

frutiger aero vibrant colours burst
frutiger aero quenches your thirst!
frutiger aero hydrating design
frutiger aero fizz and pop and shine

on the crest of a wave a splash of ocean spray
as water droplets freshen your display
the sleek, glassy gloss of the glossy glass
a juicy font a tangy touch of class

frutiger aero vibrant colours burst
frutiger aero quenches your thirst!
frutiger aero hydrating design
frutiger aero fizz and pop and shine

fizz and pop and shine
fizz and pop and shine

Wow you always amaze with your ability to use words in such a compelling way. I love the song and your work on the chord really was put to very good use! Excellent song!

Bonkers prompt. Super well done to you. Aero I know (I'm a software dev, even though I don't do front end any more) but the Fruitger... I didn't know that term.

The second verse is just cram packed with lines after lines "glassy gloss of the glossy glass". I love this line, i mean on the surface it's nonsense, the kind of stuff proper folks would tell you to avoid, but the way it is delivered and the matching of theme, it's just perfect, even the proper folks have to admit it. the delivery and repetition of the hook is great as well. what a pair of words. also the opening line, aurora borealis, i mean what a great setup for the hook. great job as always, every line is just crisp and clever.

I wasn't familiar with 'frutiger aero' and now that I am, I reckon 'fizz and pop and shine' applies perfectly to this informative and enjoyable song!

Love that chord progression! That first line is beautiful, and then it goes to a clever second line, and the whole song is brilliant — you really are a word tamer, Den, and it's amazing what you did with this prompt!

I as drawn to this for the title, and then I realised I didn't know what it meant, so I was very happy for you to educate me. As always your lyrics are fun to be around, and the chords on this one are pretty excellent too.

Great track! You nailed the aesthetic in the lyrics. Enjoyed this a lot :)

Oh yes lovely, right from kick off i synced in with those beautiful chords. Totally up my street and i adore the movement to the minor chord for the frutiger section i can feel the warmth wrapping me up like a big cuddle in this song. And i never heard of a fruiger aero. I can see this being a live hit for you lovely . WOOHOOO xxx

from the start i enjoyed the chromatic chord changes! i also didn't know the "frutiger aero" term until hearing this song, although i certainly remember the trend. "hydrating design..."

Some fun mellifluous moments here in the lyric. Goes down easy.

Favorite lines:
the sleek, glassy gloss of the glossy glass
a juicy font a tangy touch of class

Typo in the clouds! That's fizz and pop and shine, yeah. @wobbiewobbit this is such a well crafted song, it's funny, entertaining, real and seriously enjoyable. I love it!

I quite like that chord progression. Good of you to incorporate a diminished chord...Yay! I too had to do a little research to learn what it was you were singing about. Once I did though, the brilliance of your lyrics shined through. Love the fizz and pop and shine bit.

Fizzing and popping with imagery as bright as those horrible plastic graphics 😂 I remember we used to call XP the fisher price interface because it looked like a toddler’s plastic educational toy. Really enjoyed your take on this, the sweet glassy gloss of the glossy glass. Nice. 😎

I am with @jibbidy34 i thought oooo chocolate! Now I am better educated! Thx Wobs and what a nice listen to be educated with!

Ok I saw the title and thought it was a new flavour of Aero bar. Was it just me??? I had to look it up too. Ok so that’s what it is! Unusual skirmish prompt! Well done for tackling it and for learning a new diminished chord. Funnily enough I’ve been faffing over the diminished chord shape this week. As always cleverly styled lyrics and slick tongue-in-cheek delivery.

This is really fabulous! I love the many vivid images! And I like how you pronounce it! I would not trust that AI knows….. Your chorus is great!

How funny, I was imagining it was a non-alcoholic bubbly drink and hearing this as a wistful song about looking for excitement from this replacement. Fizz and pop and shine. Like an Aperol Spritz hold the prosecco. So good to hear your voice!

Love it 😁 great lyrics 🙌🙌😀❤️🎵✨️

Well I had to look that up. Had no idea. Now I know what it is (from Google) and how it looks in action, how it makes you feel, and what it does for you, and practically how it tastes (from you). Thanks! Love the 'glassy gloss' line.

Ha - my overwhelming memory of enabling the Aero interface for the first time was watching my machine's performance nosedive... Without Adrian, we would never have got Windows XP or Candy Crush, would we? "Fizz and pop and shine" is a lovely encapsulation of the aesthetic. Great fun!
