Lyrics

I don't know where it starts, & I don't know how it ends.
But I know that I'm lost again, found again, & how will I ever begin?
I drew a line in the sand while the iron gates of Alexander stand.
I'm somewhere in between, 3 bears & me,
Too little, too much is never just what I need, no!

Where do I go? Where does this lead me? How will I know?
Every step I take feels like I'm chasing my own ghost,
Running through this maze where I needed answers most.
Just keep it moving, slowly, 'til my path unfolds.
C'mon, let's go!

Every path whispers, "Hey! Hey, hey!"
Over here, over there—it's a game, hey!
Every choice has a price to pay,
No regrets yet—is that just what they say?
Roll of the die 'til we die,
Climb to heaven's spiral steps of steel.
I question everything—authority, gravity,
& the Blade of Evil's Bane is never the same, no.

Where do I go? Where does this lead me? How will I know?
Every step I take feels like I'm chasing my own ghost,
Running through this maze where I needed answers most.
Just keep it moving, slowly, 'til my path unfolds.
C'mon, let's go!

Move slow.
One foot... then another.

Where do I go? Where does this lead me? How will I know?
Every step I take feels like I'm chasing my own ghost,
Running through this maze where I needed answers most.
Just keep it moving, slowly, 'til my path unfolds.
C'mon, let's go!

I love how it breaks into the groove after the soft intro. Very catchy song. I like the contrast in rhythm between the longer faster sung lines and then when you slow the pace of the vocal down. Fantastic vocal sound as usual.

Lush synths throughout. Tori Amos vibes in the vocal / delivery. You always channel the greats but keep your unique vibe. Might bring the vox up a touch in the verse. “Chasing my own ghost” is a nice image!

So many images in these lyrics, with such a great cadence to the delivery, all on a bed of soothing pop. Delightful.

Ooo, I like this a lot. Easy to groove to, but lots of cool images and classical references embedded in here. I like the layering of the chimes and percussion, and your singing is definitely pop-style but it has a little more gravitas and depth than most pop, which personally I enjoy.

The lyrics are deep and intriguing. I love movement and the melodies. Your vocals are always beautiful. It's a powerful song!

The beat and drive of the track goes with the message of keep moving forward despite the ghost being chased.

Very serene and pure soundscape. Your vocal inflections really compliment the music and the lyrics describe the struggle of trying to find your way to perfection. Little mixing and mastering and this is a done song and a very good one at that!

Lovely vocal and the piano and strings are a wonderful backing. Strong empowering lyric about keep trying until you find your path. Glad I Found this song!

I enjoyed this on many levels. The lush dreampop soundscape. The gentle vocals and pleasant melody. The weight of the lyric that could work in a lot of genres or stand on its own in a reading. What a wonderful way to start my day!

Great stuff. Wonderful imagery.

Lovely. Just lovely. Nice work on the whole package. The lyrics are thought provoking, your voice is so sweet and the music fits both. Well done!

Lyrics to ponder over and reflect on... music to lose one's self in...magical!

Hello Kate, great lyrics, nice music idea and your singing is wonderful!

Kate! No wonder this is your personal favorite! I've listened to it 3 times, and even wrote a rather long comment...and somehow it is gone! So I'll try to recreate my first impressions...
I love the pacing of V1L2, it so perfectly matches how I interpreted that line in my head. Love the imagery of "iron gates of Alexander" and "3 bears and me." This is the kind of message that says so much more than the words themselves, and lends itself to myriad interpretations without ever feeling random. Excellent writing.
Love the pounding beat of the music, and how the tempo changes, apparently effortlessly, at just the right spots. Your vocal delivery is spot on, as always.
Wonderful song!

I like the deep lyrics, they really speak to me. The harp melody is haunting, and the arrangement works well with the vocal phrasings. Please pump up the volume of the vocals. No shyness here ;-)

I enjoy the depth of your lyrics and this song is no exception. I've also noticed an inclination to 'get up and get going' in one form or another. Beautiful!

What the-- ?!! Well, now I'm going to have trouble keeping up with you! Three songs over the weekend? You've gone from Famine to Feast! (Missed you so much last 50/90). This is an incredible song. Lovely, lovely music. So glad to have you "churning them out"!! ❤️

Yes!! I love some good dreampop and This is great! The rhythm with the pacement of the vocals is just transporting me up to the sky. Your wonderful voice could be a bit louder in the mix though, or the bass a bit quieter, need to hear that beautiful singing of yours more clearly!

Great arrangement. You have captured the dreampop sound beautifully. I love how the song builds. And the cadence of the lyrics really drew me in, fantastic delivery. I'm digging everything about this, from production to vocals to the enigmatic lyrics.

Ooo it said dream pop, I’m in! Lovely song, it flows along like a trickling stream. The keys are great really lovely!

Kate I’m limited to what I can listen on, but I had to turn my iPad up full to hear it not sure if it’s just me!

Love the cadence of "lost again, found again, & how will I ever begin" and subsequently in the next verse too. Beautiful melody. I too wouldn't mind the vocals up a bit. Excellent stuff Kate!

@sbs
Totally relate to the chorus! Enjoyed the punctuation of the beat. And, yeah, your beautiful vocals are a bit low. Btw, my middle name starts with an “E” also…

Great lyrics and melody! The music sounds great and you have a great voice. I would raise your vocals up because it's a little quiet in the mix, but overall it sounds great!
